Motivated yet not seeing results

Howdy! I'm new to this thanks to my sister-in-law who introduced this website to me. My name is Katie, 26 and currently in the military, working on trying to increase my endurance for physical training test that is done bi-anually. I had a baby Aug 23 and extremely happy. I gained 80 pounds during my pregnancy and since the birth of my son, I've lost 53 pounds. My pre-pregnancy weight was around 179, so I have another 26 pounds to reach my pre-pregnancy weight. Thing is, I have to be in regulations for my height, and 179 is not in regs. For a large framed woman at my height the largest I can be, weight wise, is around 167. In short-term, I need to lose a total of 38 pounds. I don't want to just stop at 167; I would like to be around 160 so....give or take a few numbers, I need to lose around 50 pounds for me to feel accomplished, in a way. My food intake has been low. I try not to make any excuses but for my rank and how much I have to use my money for bills and baby stuff (If you're a mom, you understand) that I don't have a lot to spend on getting healthier foods. Usually I have to go cheap just so that my family has money in a "just in case" situation. As of right now, I'm broke and I have to wait 4 days until I get paid again. I've talked to a dietitian (my sis-in-law) plus I'm getting help from a dietitian from the military and through a behaviorial science to help me with a weight loss program so that I can get myself back into gear.
According to a nurse, I'm going in the right direction, and that I'm doing great; I just don't see it. I have loose skin and a lot of belly/hip/leg fat and I know that is a precursor to heart-related problems. I'm trying to do everything that I can so I can lose it but it just seems that whatever I do, my body doesn't wanna cooperate. I get plenty of rest, I have the motivation to do this and more but it's just not working as fast as it did for me before.
I do not have a lot of support where I am stationed; since I do not have a lot of friends and the fact of my work schedule. I am doing everything, I just need extreme help to kick start my body into losing more weight. I've lost inches, definately but I want the weight to melt like I have with inches. I've also been working with a video game called Your Shape: Fitness Evolved on the 360 at home, along with pushups and situps, in many different variation of the sort.

I'm almost at a stalemate with the food, the workouts and changing it up. I am not only dietary supplements, just vitamins, but I've even considered it for some time. I've been told that's not the best way to go at it, but what do I know? I don't know what my body can do.

So......(exhale) that's my story at this current point. I'm running/jogging, going to the gym for 30 min/day. I'm trying to increase my calorie intake but I can only do soo much right now with no money. If someone were to give me 50 grand or say, "Hey, ya know, I'm going to pay off all of your bills so you can do this, to help benefit not only you but your family", I would hands down dedicate everything I have in order to lose my weight successfully.

I would love to have the motivation to keep going, keep my spirits up so that I know what I'm doing is working, even though I do not see it. It's hard enough when you have the stress of having a baby, taking care of a baby, a husband that can't find a job in the city, and only able to have enough money to pay bills. I've sacrificed so much to make my family happy and myself; I'm just getting to the point that the stress of doing this, isn't helping me but hurting me.

So what I would like from everyone, is to support me, motivate me to keep going, and understand that what I'm going through happens and what it takes to get over that plateau that I've been at for the past 2 months. You can only motivate yourself to a certain point then after that, you are wondering "where's my drive?"

I just replied to your last post, and after reading this one, I do feel you are moving in the right direction!! Make sure you eat enough. It is a hotly debated topic around here, but many people will plateau or stall with weight loss if they do not eat enough! This site can really work wonders if you are dedicated. Keep it up and I am sure you will see some results soon!

Can you make your diary public, so we can perhaps offer suggestions on your food intake?

Btw, thank you for serving! You're doing a country a great service.
  • I would be very curious to hear what kinds of foods you are eating.

Personally, I'm saving a ton of money by eating healthy. I'm not really convinced that eating healthy has to cost much money. I eat a lot of brown rice and beans (both dirt cheap).

I'm on a tight budget so with the foods that I do get, are healthy; chicken, veggies, grapefruit, cereal, 1% and skim milk. No junk food, no soda (I did have ginger ale but it was diet and I had regular but only when I was sick), coffee (usually black), no refined sugar (candy and what not).

I think I'm just not eating enough maybe? I mean I'm thinking healthy but I have limited myself to a low amounts of intake due to my tight budget.
