Turkey Cabbage Soup (low fat AND low calorie)
Years (actually, decades) ago when I joined Weight Watchers, they gave us a recipe for cabbage soup that was to be eaten every day, as it was filing, nutritional, and low fat/carlories...plus, it was quite the colon cleanse - whew! LOL
The original recipe was kinda bland, but it worked well as an appitite suppressant as it was very filling. I have since played with this recipe and tweaked it by adding some ingredients I like (such as the turkey) and eliminating some nasty stuff I didn't enjoy (like leeks...yuck).

Ingredients:
1 lb. minced turkey
3 cups nonfat low sodium beef broth (beef is the best) or 3 cups nonfat vegetable broth (beef is the best) or 3 cups nonfat chicken broth (beef is the best). (You can also use water and boullion cubes to equal 3 cups, but I find this makes the soup too salty)
1 cup water
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 can undiluted tomato soup (half the salt version)
1 head cabbage, finely chopped
1 yellow onion
1 cup chopped fresh carrots
2 celery stalk, chopped finely
1/2 cup barley (optional)
1 large bay leaf
1/2 t. Thyme
salt & pepper
olive oil
Directions:
1. In a large Dutch oven or any large pot, saute onions, celery, garlic and turkey for 5 minutes or until onion is translucent..
2. Add water, broth, tomato soup, cabbage, barley, and all the spices.
3. Heat to boiling, then reduce to simmer for about an hour or until all vegetables are tender.
Serves 8. About 175 calories per 1 cup serving.

Hmm...that may be something I may want to do after Thanksgiving myself, but that'll depend on just how much turkey is left over from the holiday. I like the idea, though! ^_^0

I'm sure you could do leftover turkey as well. It will be almost like Chicken Noodle Soup. Maybe make tiny turkey meatballs and put them in the soup! YUM!0

BUMP! I just made this yesterday with the ground turkey, but omitted the barley, olive oil, and tomato soup. Instead I used crushed tomatoes. Plus I added a TBL of coconut oil for some healthy fat. To finish this off try some sriracha sauce!! I also added some of my homemade chicken stock! so yummy!
