Well worth a read of the full article but I'll post a couple of paragraphs here.

"The foundation for the "fat is bad" mantra comes from the following logic: Since saturated fat is known to increase blood levels of "bad" LDL cholesterol, and people with high LDL cholesterol are more likely to develop heart disease, saturated fat must increase heart disease risk. If A equals B and B equals C, then A must equal C.

Well, no. With this extrapolation, scientists and policymakers made a grave miscalculation: They assumed that all LDL cholesterol is the same and that all of it is bad. A spate of recent research is now overturning this fallacy and raising major questions about the wisdom of avoiding fat, especially considering that the food Americans have been replacing fat with—processed carbohydrates—could be far worse for heart health. I have always felt that all things (in moderation) are OK for normal, healthy adults. If I want ice cream, I don't get sugar-free or low-fat ice cream. I get a scoop of the real thing, but I also don't eat it every day.

  • I love this! I think that this is absolutely true! Also, I stand by your principle, I've always said the same thing. I'm not going to pump my body full of chemicals and sugars so I can eat bad ice cream every day. I'd rather have 1 nice scoop of the real thing and feel satisfied at the end, not empty and sick.

Thanks for posting, the world needs to learn this lesson!

So true! Thanks for posting this. Fat is not the enemy our bodies need fat in order to survive just choose the good kinds 80% of the time and have the bad ones the other 20%.
