How far could you run when you started running?

I love to tell this story. When I first started running, on my own, not in PE or sports, I ran around the perimeter of my apartment complex. It was maybe 500 yards, at most. I suppose if someone were chasing me, or a coach was yelling at me, I could have done a bit better, but not much.0

I could barely run a minute without being out of breath and having chest pain.
Now I am can run for over an hour - I have done about 8.5k, but really haven't focused on distance in awhile.0 -
I could only run for about 30 seconds at first. I did my first 20 minute run last week. Still working my way through C25K.0

My first ever run, sometime around last October, I went for 4 miles and TOTALLY shocked myself, lol. BUT, that only happened because I had been working out like a crazy person on the elliptical for over half a year and had built up a bunch of endurance for running without realizing it. Now, my longest run to date is just over 12 miles.0

When I started running, I couldn't do the C25K program. I had to train to do a training program. :sad: I started with running 100 steps then walking 100 steps. At first I could only do that a few times before I was ready to die.
As time when on and I trained more and more I get better! :-) My first 5K was completed in 44:58 I finished my 10th!!! in 31:22, and I ran the entire time!!0 -
When I first decided to start running I hadn't heard of C25K and maybe my longest run as about 1/8th of a mile. The first time I ran a mile was a HUGE accomplishment for me since it was the first time since little league.
My longest run to date with just a tiny bit of walking sprinkled in was 7 miles. I was running my app told me I had gone 3 1/2 miles and I had to run BACK to my car.
I got hit with PF and I'm slowly building my distance back up as I get back into the groove. In fact I have a 5k tomorrow morning and once I'm done it's about a mile to the bar and we're running there to get our free beer. (Yay beer)
My cardio would allow me a lot longer that I should be attempting on my foot right now. I have a race tomorrow. A 5K and a 1mile on new years day and then nothing until march unless I sign up for that superbowl sunday 5K which I probably will because I'm stupid.
I'm going to start training for a half marathon in the mid to late spring so I'm ready for one in early fall.
I over trained because I didn't understand you have to train up the rest of your body around your lungs (cardio). Couch to 5K is an excellent way to train up. There's even a couch to 10K you could start when you are ready.

My first run was in May 2012 and I could just run 7 minutes (complete with a wheezing fit!). I continue to run until August consistently and got up to 5.2 miles! Granted, it took me nearly an hour and a half to do that lol. I just signed up for my first 5K race (Jan. 20th!) so I've been trying to run, but I've got some left knee pain that I hope goes away soon..0

1 mile and I was gasping for air like I was dying. I LOL when I think back to that day in SEPTEMBER 2012.... heheh I've come a loooooong way.0

I went 20 minutes the first time I tried it (since about 10 years ago), to my disbelief. That would have been about 1.75 miles, I think.0

i'm in my first week on here & i cant run yet, but i've started walking each day & my goal is to be able to run at least 3.5 miles.0

I have no idea how far, but it was about thirty seconds at MOST. Now I regularly run 6 miles and I have my first half marathon coming up in February! So excited and I will definitely be ready0

I've actually tracked every single run since I've started running and my first couple ranged between 5k to 14k
(which is around 3 to 9 miles roughly).
I remember I did the 9 miles way too early though, because while it didn't seem too hard running it, my body was just used to it at all, and I had to take a two weeks break immediately after because my knees hurt so much.
But yeah, I guess I started at three miles and worked my way up:)0 -
When I first started, I could run 1/2 a block before I had a terrible side ache. 14 months later... 13.1 miles has been my longest run. My regular run is 4-6.4 miles, 5x a week. Sometimes I'll pump out a 10 miler on a Sunday.

When I began, about a quarter mile. (This past summer) Now I run 5 miles daily, sometimes when I have the time (like today) I'll do 10 or so just to prove to myself how far I've come.0

I could run about a minute and a half without too much difficulty when I started running in May. Three minutes kicked my butt! My longest run in recent days was 6 miles. I usually "only" run 4 though.0

I haven't been running a year yet, but when I first started, I couldn't run from light pole to light pole. I run at our NFL teams stadium around the parking lot and about 1 1/2 time around is about a mile. I ran 6.5 miles today and I weigh around 263lbs. When I ran my first 5k, I weighed 299lbs and finished in 40 minutes.0

I remember blogging a while back about being SO excited when I ran a mile in two 1/2 mile increments, then when I "ran" an entire mile in 14 minutes.
Now, about 5 years later and a total of 90 lbs down, I can run 10.5 minute miles and can keep that up for 3 or 4 miles. If I slow down, I can do 6-10....so I'd say improvement noted.

Ran track from 6 years old to 18 years old. I use to do at least 10 miles or more with ease. After I stopped running and gained tons of weight at 20 years old when I try to run for the first time two years later I could barely finish a mile. Now at 22 I'm pushing about a 5k with ease and could do at 5 miles (I may struggle) but still can do it! I'm working on being that runner I use to be.0

When I started C25k this past September I felt like I was going to die on the initial 60 second run. I thought, How is one little minute so da*n long? Yesterday I ran my second 5k in 36:39.7 - an 11.49 pace. I ran the entire thing, no walk breaks. I am training for endurance, not speed. my long term goal is the runDisney Tower of terror 10 Miler in September 2013. My goal is to complete it in under two hours with the stretch goal of finishing about 90 minutes. We'll see where it goes from there.0

I started C25K in August and the 60 seconds had me totally out of breath. But as soon as I finished that first day, I knew I would finish the program. I'm up to 3.1 miles (35 mins) but I'm struggling with boredom. It's not my breathing or my legs. I do listen to music but I still get really, really bored. I want to do a 10K so if anyone has any suggestions (other then choose a destination as my goal), I'd really appreciate it.0
