47 and dodgy knees

I've finally began to enjoy exercise. I've completed C25K and have just started a 10k app. I've also been doing Chalean Extreme which I LOVE!! The trouble is, although in being careful with my squats etc, I'm getting sore knees. I'm 47 and worried that if I exercise everyday, I may overdo it and then not be able to exercise for ages. Am I right to just exercise every other day or am I being too cautious?

I'd be doing other form of exercise on the alternate days, not putting the pressure on your knees every day. I was told I needed knee replacements 2 years ago , over this time I've strengthened the muscles supporting the knees with the help of a trainer as did not want to have surgery, I know at some stage I will have to but for now my knees are great. She showed me correct procedure for squats with no pressure on knees, and other sorts of exercise where using whole body .I can't run anymore which I miss, as that puts untold pressure on your knees. Why don't you try walking instead of the running and see how your knees hold up. I think it's just trial and error, but please don't push it if your knees are giving you pain as you can do untold damage as I have learnt, did mine through competitive netball over the years. :)

I'm 42 and have noticed that my knees are being a little more sore than usual. I know that my family has a history of arthritis but I think it's more so the weather changing and our bodies are older. I would say just listen to your body, your knees will tell you if you are doing too much or not. Keep up the good work!
