Flat irons

I have extremely thick, curly, unruly, frizzy, nightmare hair. It only looks nice (IMO) when it's blown out and flat ironed which takes 2 to 3 hours of hard labor on my or my hair stylist's part. I'm in the market for a new one and looking for recommendations. What do you ladies (possibly guys?) use/like?
I was given one for Christmas about 6 years ago but I've abused it so much it's only good for making bacon now, like this...

Any one that is ceramic works great. Sally Beauty Supply.0 -
I have a 'ghd' professional flat iron. Expensive, but I use it every day, so worth it for me. I've had it for over a year now.
It gets up to temperature super fast too.0 -
I have an instyler. I love it0

I hate when 10+ years acquires that think layer of hairspray over my curling iron and it no longer works! waahh0

I have the same one as in your picture and I love it.0

Well, if you wanted a serious answer, you shouldn't have distracted us with bacon...seriously, though, my hair is pin straight--don't hate me, I always wanted curls!0

bacon cures everything
I like the option of curly/straight but the head of hair I was given is RIDICULOUS!0 -
Jilbere Ceramic Flat Iron
Have had it for 8-9 years and still works great.
Go to Sally's. Yes. Do it. Do it. Yes..0 -

Chi is the greatest, I have thick curly hair and what used to take me an hour and a half to straighten now takes 20 minutes.0

the hairspray kinda makes the bacon taste funny too :P0 -
Try a beauty supply store in your area...the expensive ones are worth it.0

I have this:

It's actually what my hairstylist uses and recommends. I'm sure you could find it cheaper on amazon or something.0 -
GHD without a doubt. expensive but the BEST straightener i've ever used.
i would also recommend using a shampoo and conditioner to help with frizz etc. or try the brazillian blow wave0 -
I recently bought one and I read this guide first....

I got the sedu ceramic one and I love it.0 -
the instyler works wonders on my hair.. curly frizzy, and my sisters, ethnic hair and my daughters thick straight hair for perfect picture day curls! Plus it takes out the extra step of curling your ends so you dont look like you have horse hair after straightening..lol. It cut my straightening time in half..down to 30 minutes now!!0

I don't know my brand off the top of my head, but just getting a wider one cut my time in half! Your picture looks like it's about a 1" plate, so try going for a 3" instead. Good luck!0

GHD or Sedu.
being a hair stylist I recommend these brands.
also if you have an Ulta Store near you they have a 20% of coupon going on now that you can use on irons.0 -
omg, that pic is hilarious
i love my FHI heat (w/the red plates)0 -
I love my 1" but don't know the name. 450 and heats up instantly.
not kidding either.0 -
I have used CHI and FHI, both good.0

I can't believe no one has mentioned the T3 irons. Stop looking and buy one of these:

I have a red devil one that works great. I find that the cheap ones just don't work well. Mine goes up to 400 degrees, and it is so much faster than the cheaper ones I had before. And yes it is ceramic.0

and if you dont want to spend the money on a chi.. GVP is the knock-off chi version,it works just as well as the chi. you can get it for about $60,if the price hasnt went up. (smaller plates are better than the thick ones by the way)
also, anti-frizz syrums helps just run it through there after you blow dry and then brush your hair
and do a deep conditioner in your hair and see if that helps, you can get deep conditioner at sally's fairly cheap. i deep condition mine twice a month and my hair does some crazzy stuff.. i promise it doesnt get to lookin good on its own.
but, i also did find when i put layers and when they thinned my hair out that my thick hair wasnt so thick and that it was easier to manage!
Dont forget heat protectant spray! and i hope this helps!
