No, mine has dropped because of a 110+ pound loss. Low carb has nothing for my blood pressure but my blood sugar is now awesome.

I would get a second opinion on why it has dropped. I got to 2 doctors almost once a month and I can guarantee they have never heard of such a thing. Both have recommended I go Primal and low carb knowing I have blood pressure/heartrate issues.

Seems like they didn't know an answer and guessed to me.

I also had a BP drop with weight loss (after 50-60 lbs loss) and my glucose dropped dramatically with low carb in 2 weeks (140 down to 90 and now it is in th low 80s).I'm not a doc, but haven't heard low BP relating to low carb unless accompaniedby weight loss.

If it's only been two weeks then you may still be adapting to it.

The body has to make some metabolic changes to adjust to burning a fatty-acid/ketone mixture and not glucose as a primary energy source.

Sometimes supplementing with salt will help any transitory symptoms (sometimes called "Atkins Flu").

    Good luck!
  • When I did the Dr. Berstein diet (low carb) my blood pressure dropped significantly to the point where if you you looked at the literature it was a cardiac event.

Now I'm back trying to lose weight on low carb while controlling my salt intake. I do not add salt to anything but am discovering that getting below 2000 mg is a challenge given the amount of salt already in food.

I will have to choose foods much more wisely

I thought the low blood pressure was because of water loss?
