Leslie Sansone

Just wondering. I have several of Leslie Sansone's walking videos. Would you log them as walking or aerobics? Thanks.

I put them as aerobics, because there's so much upper body work involved. I add more upper body motions than she doesn, now that I'm familiar with how the videos go, so I'm moving my arms and waist throughout the entire thing, usually with small dumb-bells. So that raises my heartrate a bit more than just walking on the street or treadmill. So it's low-impact aerobics.

Without a HRM monitor I'd do a light aerobics measurement because you really can't say you walked the number of miles she says. Most people don't go walking waving their arms over their head or lunging side to side either!

I log them as light aerobics, too, since you're doing more than just walking.

I log it as walking-BUT-for me at least, the calories that are in the database for 4mph walking are the same as those for low impact aerobics for the same amount of time. SO-it doesn';t really matter for me. Not sure if there's a difference for anyone else as far as MFP does the calculations.

I wear a HRM so I just put in whatever exercise and dial back the minutes until it matches. :)

ETA: for me, its all about the calories and how many I get to eat back, so however that happens doesn't much matter to me!

I put cardio and add the exercise. I have a heart rate monitor and put in the calories from that and fill in the time.

I'm going to start logging it as low impact aerobics. I have been logging it as walking and Leslie does more than walk with us.
  • I log it as walking. It's interesting to read others views about it. Nice 1!

The last one I got she whips your butt. It is cardio/strength training and boosted walking. Its definitely aerobics and could be high impact. 5 REALLY BIG MILES is true.

BTW, there are several of her videos on You Tube, if you ever want to try a different one but not bother buying it. I'd say there are probably 6 or 7 on line that I don't own. I like that for the variety, and the convenience of not having to go get more new videos.
  • Great question and thanks to all who replied im gonna sdjust my entries going forward
