The funniest part is everyone is all, MAYANS PREDICTED THE WORLD TO END WTF.

When really, the calendar just ended, and people later were saying things like, "Well, the calendar ended, world must end lol."

Mayans never predicted anything of the sort.

I have ordered a new calendar for the next 5000 years. It has a cat theme.
I'd buy a calendar like that...only I'd like it with those wacky captions from icanhazcheezburger.com!

I'm in Australia, its 9:26pm and we are all here!
  • No. It ends at 10:11AM UTC! http://www.timeanddate.com/countdown/maya

So technically it didn't end till around 21 minutes ago. We're all ghosts now. Obivously.

I think it would be hilarious if the world freaked out like this every time we came to the end of our modern calenders. That could be the year-end ritual instead of new years or something.
You mean how everyone went nuts at the end of 1999, and then nothing happened? )

It was supposed to end at 5:11 AM our time and it is now 5:47. So I believe everyone is safe from that prediction.

There you go. Silly time prediction.

Try this link now, it's funny, the page turns on its own and then you lose the connection. I guess they can't admit they were wrong

I'm still here, was getting off the bus in a snowstorm at 6:12

I know, but I'll wait on that until after the new year when the calendars get seriously marked down!

you know what the coolest thing is about a civilization from 4000 years ago? Not the fact that the world didn't end (that's just modern day misinterpretation gone amuck) but the FACT this ancient civilization was so in tune with their surroundings and the universe that they were able to accurately predict the galactic equinox. Name me a modern day scientist who can do that? THAT is what's so freaky about todays date, and our place in the universe. We are all made up of the same stuff that stars are made of. WHERE did that knowledge ability go? THAT is what blows my mind and keeps me awake at nights. THAT is cool. Have a super day peeps!

Hey... we've survived 1999, Y2K, and wasn't there an asteroid headed this way at one time?
