Excercise calories deducted??

:noway: Hi everyone,
I have a quick question. MFP told me to intake 1200 calories a day, but after speaking to many people here, I got a lot of support and advice and upped to 1500 (I also didn't want to be crabby 24/7 like I've been).
This is another question... If I eat 2000 calories today, and go to the gym and record it, will this MFP deduct calories I lost? I'd like to eat more and then work out and know where I stand, but I want to know if there is a progress bar or something that will let me know if I am excercising back to 1500.
Anyone know?
Thanks again! I know I can count on everyone here for support!

When you add exercise into the exercise tracker it will allow you more food to eat.... so if you ate extra above your limit you would reach your limit depending on how much exercise you do.
Be careful with calorie calculations though as the burned calories are quite high on here and the machines aren't the best either. Best thing is to get a HRM and use that to determine calories burned.0 -
Yes... that's the way MFP is designed to work. 1500 cals (or whatever) on rest days, 1500 cals + exercise cals on workout days.0

Just watch how many calories you eat back. I typically only ate back half. So if I burned 250 calories, I ate back around 130ish or less. This would be in the form of a treat after the work out, because if I ate more, then didn't get a chance to workout (crap happens), I didn't go over my limit. A HRM would be a good investment - even at goal I've been eyeing a BodyMedia FitCore that I asked Santa for!0

It's really different for everyone. You'll have to experiment to see what works for you. You might be able to eat back some or all or your exercise calories burned. For me, that did not work at all. If I eat my exercise calories back, I don't lose and might even gain! :noway: So, I try to keep my calories around 1200 whether I work out or not. Of course I don't always succeed! Good luck!0

The science doesn't change, but the method might. Some people have allergies or preferences or conditions whatever else to over come, but those things aside, if you maintain a healthy deficit, you will lose. Most people who say "I ate back my cals and gained weight, so I stopped and lost" were either overestimating calorie burns, underestimating food intake, or both.
I'm not trying to sound accusatory... but 90% of the people who say "blah blah blah didn't work for me, just figure out what works for you" failed at blah blah blah because they didn't do it right... not because it doesn't work.0 -
So if I run for 30 mins and burn calories, the MFP will add calories into my diary that I can eat today?0

In theory, yes. If you go into the Exercise tab, it will ask you what you did and how long you did it. MFP will work out an appropriated calorie burn for your size and add the calories to your food log. It's not the most accurate system, which is why I only ate back 1/2 my calories so I knew I wasn't going over.0 -

Yes, do it and you'll see.0 -
I eat 1200 if I don't do anything...on active days I eat up to 1500. Then exercise on top of that. MFP will only deduct calories if you have a tracker that syncs. I wouldn't eat 2000 calories, but I think you could plan on eating all 1200 calories before you go to the gym and then eat back the additional calories.0

Thanks so much! I tried eating 1200 and I was an angry beast.. so I upped it to 1500, but with all these christmas parties, I know I will be going over, so I was hoping to be sure that I can eat after the gym0
