Its kind of sad and I was wondering if I lost less weight because of my lack of heavy physical activity due to the cold weather or I'm smoking less cigs and blunts.
Is this what you called a plateau?

Umm...you lost 5 pounds. That is not a plateau by any means. 5 pounds in a month is more than 1 pound a week on average. This is EXCELLENT and you should be proud of yourself! Weight loss is not linear, it is not necessarily consistent, and you will not lose 5 pounds a week every week. Or even 1 pound every week. A slow, steady weight loss is better for your body and your overall metabolism. You didn't gain all that weight in a very short period of time, it will not go away in a short period of time. Have patience. KEEP GOING, be persistent, and you will continue to lose weight, and it will take as long as it takes. The important thing is that you arrive, not how long it takes to get there.0

5 pounds in one month is grate! good for you0
-
Just think... if the worst you do is 5lbs a month, in a year you will be down 60lbs. That's not too bad, imo.0
-
That's a pound a week - what are you expecting to lose? This isn't a tv show - a pound a week is great.0
-
That's a good amount!0
-
Troll post?! 5 lbs/m is good.. and yeah quit smoking.0

5 Lbs in a month is good and healthy weight loss. Losing weight too quickly can be dangerous.0

This! Unrealistic expectations can really bring you down. I'm losing an average of 5-6 pounds a month. I still have a long way to go, but after every month, I'm 5 pounds closer & so are you!0 -
Uh. 5 pounds lost in a month is GOOD! Celebrate it.0

its not a plateau if you lose weight0

Your profile says you have lost 33 bs. How long did it take you to lose that?0
-
5 lbs in a month?? Definitely not a plateau! I would be happy to lose 5 lbs in a month.. I use to average 2 lbs/mo. now I think it's lower than that.1
-
Um if you lose .1lbs you are not in a plateau. stop freaking out over a 5lb loss. I think you should do some research on healthy weight loss and reassess.0

You are doing great! Any loss is a step in the right direction if your goal is to lose weight.0

You're not losing because you're in starvation mode. You should eat more.0

Excellent point! Greatest Loser can give people unreal expectations of weight loss. Those folks have docs, nutritionist and exercise for hours every day. Not real life.
A plateau is no weight loss, 5# a month is progress.0 -
It's gotta be because you're smoking less cigarettes and blunts. that'll stall the weight loss, ya know.0

She IS losing in a controlled manner, stick to what you are doing OP!0 -
Ditto on what everyone else said. My first 45lbs lost were at 5lbs per month. Yeah, at first I was disappointed, but its been almost a year and I haven't hit a plateau (hope I didn't just jinx myself), though for the last 6 weeks I seem to be on a 2lb per week loss. don't know if I can sustain it, but I'm going to enjoy it while I can.0
-
My weight loss averaged to 0.5 lbs a week. That is HALF A POUND. Be realistic, 5 pounds in a month is fantastic.0
-
5lbs a month is great...it may not be coming off as quick as you like but thats -5lbs you lost rather than the 0 or gain that might of occured if you were not doing anything. For the cold weather try some dvds or youtube vids...even dancing and cleaning counts..tackle a big task that you may need done that requires activity. switch up your workout routine a bit. And congrats on cutting down the smoking..it takes time and patience0

Out of longer than a year on MFP there has been only one month that I have lost 5 pounds. The other months I was lucky to lose one pound if any. Most people I talk to lose one pound or less a week.0

Best. Answer. Ever.
I'm still laughing ...0 -
it is the decrease in blunts...definately.
:indifferent:0 -
did you weigh yourself with or without the oversized sun shades????
on a serious 5lbs in a month is more than a pound a week so that is great progress. just keep doing what you are doing and work slow and steady towards your goals0 -
Congratulations! you lost 5 pounds in a month!0
-
Im pretending to be sad & frustrated about this cause I feel weird asking for props.0
-
I fail to see the issue with losing 5lbs in a month....0
-
Only? LOL, with the struggles I'm going through right now, I wish I could lose 5lbs a month.
5lbs a month is, on average, 1.25lbs a week. Which is normal.0 -
5 lbs in a month is a little over a lb per week; It is about what you should lose for a sustainable weight loss... Great job; keep it up.0
