Does anyone have any good protein shake or smoothie recipes that include Kale? I just got a food processor & want to start making fresh fruit & Veggie smoothies instead of just my regular almond milk with protein powder. Just to get in some extra servings of veggies and fruit. Thanks in advance! :)

  • I have one

    Kale Fruit Shake:

    6 cups water
3 cups washed, chopped kale, fibrous stem removed
    2 bananas
    1 cup blueberries
1 avocado-makes it creamy but is optional
    2 TBS honey-optional

Blend in a blender until creamy. Enjoy! Will keep for 2 days in the fridge but re-blend it because it will separate.

    Dr. Oz recipe
Whether or not you like the idea of a detox/cleanse, this recipe is yummy.
    1/2 c mango
    1 c blueberries
    1 1/2 c coconut water
    1 c kale
    1 T lemon juice
    1/4 avocado
    1 T flax seeds
Recipe also calls for 1/4 t cayenne, but if you don't like the heat, leave it out. I put a few dashes in mine. It was kind of good - the sweet + spice thing was like those exotic spicy chocolates.
By the way, this is a big smoothie. I had to make two batches in my bullet.

Thanks!! I will have to give these a try! I've made up some of my own as well. I'm loooving it so far :)
  • I usually put a cup of water, a banana, half cup of strawberries, some cucumber and a cup of spinach in my smoothies (you could replace the spinach with kale) and have that for breakfast. It's really yummy

Cup of kale, cup of spinach, about a cup of Fage 0% Greek yogurt, honey or agave nectar and/or banana, cup of almond milk. Blend with ice.

    My usual smoothie is either
    2 cups kale
    1 cup raw coco water
    1 banana
    1 cup blueberries
    Add water as needed

    Or
    2 cups kale
    1 cup raw coco water
    1 banana
    1 cup + pineapple
    Add water as needed

I'll swap out blueberries for mixed berries, pineapple and mango.
Sometimes I swap the banana with fresh young Thai coconut meat.

I just made one today with frozen peaches and cocoa powder and my whey protein, wheat germ, agave nectar and unsweetened almond milk. I usually use spinach and decided to change it up a bit using kale. Not pleasing to the eye, but I know it's good for me. I'm going to try these recipes and see what happens. My drink was missing something...I just couldn't figure out what?

Thanks for sharing your recipes everyone!

They all sound yummy to me, I will give them a try. I'm so tired of making kale chips. Thanks for the ideas
