Things that your weight has held you back in?

When I think of my regrets, I can usually trace them back to the fact I was embarrassed or ashamed of my physical appearance, that instead of partaking I'd often watch others. If my friends went down the beach "I don't like swimming" if my friends went go karting I'd avoid it, just in case the equipment didn't fin. Rollercoaster? No chance, what if the bar won't come down...
What are things you've felt that your weight has stopped you doing in the past or present?

Anything that involved wearing a bathing suit...pathetic. Need to change that soon!!! Just in case the opportunity arises...as I'm sure it will.0

The only thing it stopped me doing was skydiving. Was too heavy.
Other ban that it robbed my confidence but I continued playing sport and doing most stuff I do now.0 -
2-piece bathing suit. No way Jose!0

My weight has held me back on swimming. I honestly would love to just go swimming with friends - but no, I can't because I'm 20-25 lbs overweight right now.
I can't think of other specific things, but in general I am less outgoing because of it. I tend to think everyone in the room is thinking of my weight/appearance and then I become more of a wall flower at a party .0 -
Dating because I thought I wasn't pretty enough, thus not worth it.0

That's you not your weight. I'm currently 70lbs overweight and have been swimming every day with my friends the past week.0 -

I don't even swim well. Because I don't practice, lol .
I hate swim suits. Not trying to be negative.0 -
- Sitting on cheap patio furniture without fear of it breaking and splintering into big plastic shards
- Learning how to hang glide
- Shopping in a "regular" person clothing store0 -
Yah walking, but I'm a lot healthier now, just came on here to lose last 20Ibs. As a kid, after my baby, I put on A LOT of weight and became Morbidly Obese. Hardly able to walk, I dropped out of school. My weight basically stopped my life for a while and left me bed bound at one time.0

Having family photos taken. My youngest son is almost 7, and we just had our first family photos taken this year. Horrible...0

I'm amazed at all the ones about not looking good enough, you all look fantastic !
Ah Cheap furniture, at 6"4 and at my peak about 280 that was always a massive fear, broke a plastic chair on Holiday by the pool in front of a crowd, I still have Vietnam style flashbacks...0 -
amusement park rides....296lbs does not fit in those locking clamps0

This for me, big time. As silly as I think it is when anyone else says it, in my head I'm the most revolting person ever.
The other thing is skydiving. It's been my new years resolution every year for about 8 years. And though there have been times I've been light enough to do it, there haven't been times where I've been light enough to feel comfortable getting on the scales in front of people.0 -
my life.
That's exactly how I feel. I have spent so damn long complaining that my weight is screwing my already broken body up and not doing anything about it. It won't hold me back any more x0 -
I dont go to swimming pools anymore I stopped going to embarrased about my body not confident enough0

dating for sure... never had a proper relationship. still haven't! normal socialising. never went to a pub or a club or anything like that until this year. at my worst i couldn't even go shopping because most of the time people would shout insults at me in the street! i missed vital days from school and college because there was days i just looked at my appearance and thought i wasn't socially acceptable! could never join a fitness class or anything as i felt that i was being judged. tried to go swimming once but got called miss piggy so never returned! ha. totally destroyed my relationship with friends and family members i basically just stopped seeing everyone that i knew cos i felt i wasn't worthy of their time. i didn't pursue what i wanted to do in life because i felt i wasn't good enough for it and wouldn't be accepted... the list goes on... i'm getting there though. So wear shorts and a t-shirt you don't care about. I used to hate swim suits too.0 -

My weight has stopped me from doing a lot of things, such as even wanting to go to public. I haven't seen any of my friends from high school because I'm ashamed of myself. I need to lose a lot of weight and I know it's going to take a long time..0

A lot I guess. I still will wear a 2-piece top and a pair of shorts to the beach, as unattractive as I may look. I suppose the biggest thing is dating. But it could also be my confidence... I think maybe it all comes down to confidence and self-esteem...0

Dancing. I use to dance but I always felt like I sucked at it, and I think that was because of my weight. Also, horseback riding in front of people. I use to be a great rider, now I feel anxious if I think someone is gonna watch me get on a horse.0

I still hate taking photos, and the one from Christmas makes me feel like crap.
Dating: everyone said I was not marriage material but my husband married me because of my personality and loves me for me no matter what i look like, but I am not going back to 243. We have been together for 4 going to be 5 years and have been married for almost 2 years.
Bikini no way not even sure i will ever fit into one.
College: reason is because I have never been able to slide between things easily and honestly I can't wait for the day that I do.
I also don't wear dresses above my knees or mini skirts because no one wants to see my legs that are not muscular.
Confidence: never had it, and while I am working on it slowly, I still don't feel good or pretty or beautiful. I am also still trying to work on being decisive rather then not.
The list goes on, when you are told you are fat, you are not good enough, you will never amount to anything, yeah it has worn on me.0 -
Dating because I thought I wasn't pretty enough, thus not worth it.
This, too. I was always wondering what men thought of me. When I did manage to catch someone's eye, I was constantly wondering if they thought I was too fat for them. After being intimate with a guy for a few months, I found out why he never let us be "public." He wanted me to lose weight first.
Needless to say, I told him to go F**k himself, and a year and a half later I am engaged to the love of my life as of three days ago and am getting married in October. He makes me feel like the only girl in the world....screw those other guys.0 -

I can definitely relate on worrying if I was thought to fat for someone as well, but that guy... WOW! Good thing you ditched him.0
