Ketogenic diet.

I have been reading up on this. It says your fat consumption should be 70 to 80 percent of your diet. Has anyone tried this??? Doesn't make sense to me

My daughter is on the ketogenic diet for epilespy...always surprises me to hear someone would do this for weight loss. It is a very serious diet and can have very serious side-effects if not managed by a dietician. Should not be taken lightly...

They're 2 different diets with the same name and the Keto diet for weight loss really should be renamed. I agree with you - if anyone tried the Keto diet for epilepsy without being epileptic, they're in trouble.

To the OP - a Keto diet for weight loss uses a 1 to 1 fat to protein ratio rather than the 4 to 1 fat to combined protein and carbs ratio of the Ketogenic Diet by Johns Hopkins used to treat epilepsy.

Exactly what lizziebeth said. It's mostly used for people with a seizure disorder. They are on a very strict diet and are often supported by a doctor. Not something that the average person should try without consulting a doctor.

Not sustainable for MOST people and if you are naturally the type of eater who has more balances meals then I would certainly not recommend it.
