Fuelling workouts

I'm playing a bit with meal timing, just accidentally. Ie, I forgot to eat lunch, am tired, my workout will suck.

For those who need food to fuel workouts, how many cals do you like to have under your belt before getting into it?

    It's not that complicated. Two bananas 30 minutes before a workout will get you through.

    Thanks! Ran out of bananas, got to some PBJ, about to get on with it. Shopping tonight for more!

    I think I was at ~500 before the sandwich, just stupid.
