15g sugar?

So, i keep reading and hearing people talk about sugar intake. I keep hearing if you limit your sugar intake to less than 15g a day you will lose and not have to count calories. Im just curious as to what everyone thinks about this, and if anyone actually practices this and if its working for them. sugar is by far my downfall i crave it CONSTANTLY!!... I have this calorie counting, and measureing/proportion thing under control... but my sugar intake is over just about EVERY day... im wondering if this is responsible for my up down up down scale experience....all advice, info and opinions greatly appreciated :)

    yea.... but depending on who you talk to some say that fruit sugar doesnt count, like sugar from a soda would... i eat alot of fruit.... theres alot of info to read and "take in" its hard sometimes to kno what to go with, and what is total junk...

    Also OP be careful playing with your sugar intake you can get hypoglycemic attacks.

    I think the idea is that since almost everything has some sugar in it, you cannot eat mountains of food and still stay under 15g sugars. So it's basically a gimmick, kinda like "eat all the grapefruit you want" because who would want to eat that much grapefruit? ;)

    Of course fruit counts as sugar hahaha it just absorbs slower because of all the fiber thus preventing a huge insulin spike. Your body cannot tell the difference between fruit sugar or table sugar, or even brown from white sugar for that matter why because it is all sugar.. lol

    I'm confused how limiting your sugar intake = not having to count calories. I don't think there's a lot of sugar in macaroni and cheese and a grilled rib eye.

    ^^That's a crock of you know what.. Simply put its always calories in vs calories out.. Any quick fixes are most likely a scam. Remember if things sound to good to be true they most likely are. :drinker:

    if you have a hard time with sugar try getting things that have low sugar or are sugar free. i just had a sugar free chocolate pudding made by JELL-O and it was delicious, i couldnt even tell the difference. staying low on sugar doesnt mean that you can eat whatever you want and lose weight. you still need to watch calories and fat!

    I saw this on dr Oz- Some guy saying he had a diet where you limit your sugar to 15g a day. and that honestly seems impossible to me. I ate a pear for breakfast today... it had 16g of sugar.

    absolutely nothing :) i personally think its the ONLY way for me to be able to lose weight .... i do it every day.... i have just been hearing alot of stuff about limiting sugar and not having to count. And then had a friend ask me about it also.. i had told her it sounded like a load of crap, and then it got me to thinking what other peoples take on it would be.

    yea. my friend and my mother saw it. then i went to his website and looked at it too.... 15g of sugar really does seem impossible...

    Best advice with avoiding sugar...cut out the refined sugars and don't worry about avoiding sugars that occur naturally.

    Shockwave eats 2500 calories every day because he does not count calories and does not know how much he is consuming and does not lose weight and in fact gains some weight in a month..

    Did not eating sugar or minimal sugar prevent him from not having to count calories and still lose weight?
    Answer is NO and why is this..??
