Lower Cholesterol

Since this string is dedicated to success stories, I will briefly share one that I learned earlier today. Other than wanting to lose weight for general health reasons, I joined MFP in early Feb. 2010 to help me keep track of what I was eating. My overall Cholesterol was 228 back on 12/28/09 and my doctor was only giving me once more chance to lower it on my own without taking any medication. He actually wrote me the prescriptions and gave me some samples. I looked at them often over the last few months as motivation. Well I had my bloodwork done again last week and just learned this morning that my overall Cholesterol is now at 177. I was hoping and somewhat expecting it to be in the low 200's since I have been working out 5-6 times a week and watching "everything" I have eaten, but never expected it to be lower by 51. I am sure the 20 pounds I have lost in two months significantly helped as well.
Finding this ap for my iphone was a major positive influence on making this happen. I also found a great support group "No more excuses" where everyone supports each other in achieving whatever their goals may be.
I realize that I am fortunate that high Cholesterol does not run in my family and that is not the case for some, but just wanted to share my little success story.
Take care, Hawkeye

Congrats. I'm in the same boat. For 3-4 years my Cholesterol has been 200 and two weeks ago I tested at 150, despite having started to eat eggs again. I now eat about 6-8 eggs a week but daily exercises and veggies + fruit every day helps.0

Hey, same thing just happened for me! For the past year my total cholesterol has been as low as 188 and as high as 205. At the beginning of this month I was 146. Yay to all of us!0
