12 Races in 12 Months - Tell me I'm not crazy!!

Have you ever failed at something and it really ate away at you? I have! In 2007, about 65-75 lbs ago, I foolishly attempted the Disney World Half Marathon. I was kicked off the course at the end of mile 1 for not keeping pace. By last November I started training for the Disney World Princess Half Marathon this February. I'm proud with my results even though I haven't run the race. Therefore, I am making it my goal in 2013 to complete 12 races (5K, 8K, 10K, or half marathon) in 12 months. I've already signed up for 6. I hate failing and I need to prove to myself I can do this even though it is going to be the hardest thing I've ever done (harder than even taking the Bar Exam!) I need to erase my 2007 failure. Wish me luck, and in 12 months hopefully I'll have 12 medals to show off!! Don't care about the times, so long as I get to finish line. I don't need to come in first against anyone but myself!

You're not crazy. I totally think its doable.
I'll be volunteering at the Princess Half Marathon at the finish line (I'm running a half a couple weeks before this one) passing out medals, I think you'll definitely earn yours!0 -
I have the same goal. I got 8 a couple years ago but I want 12. I'll be doing some tris this summer I think. But I'm starting this weekend with the Walt Disney Marathon 8)0

Julie, Maybe I'll see you at the Princess finish! I did the medal distribution at the Disney 10K back when I was on my College Program. It was fun!
Codefox, good luck this weekend!!0 -

Right now the shortest I have scheduled between them is 1 week, but that's just the one short turnaround. Everything else is at least 2.5 weeks apart, mostly more.0 -
That's awesome!
(when she finds out about mud runs she's in big trouble)0 -
I have a friend that did it last year! Fabulous idea! Make sure you take a picture pre and post for every race. Her transformation over the 12 months was fantastic! Good luck!!!!0

LOL!! Exactly!!
My goal was to do 12 this year (mostly mud runs). I'm out with a knee injury right now, so my new goal is to make it out in time to hit my big 3 (Tough Mudder in June, Spartan in August and a marathon in November). We'll have to see how that goes.
ETA - GOOD LUCK!!!! :flowerforyou:0 -
Its not crazy at all....I haven't signed up for any races yet this year but after reading your post I want to start signed up0

I'm trying to do something similar! Yay! Go us!!! I have a race for the Jan, Feb, and March so far! March will be my first half (for the year, 4th total) so that I can build up to it...then races each month on. I have one planned for April, July, and October for sure. I'm even thinking of running a marathon in December -- now I feel crazy for even considering it!
GOOOOOOD LUCK!0 -
I don't think you are crazy at all. I too am setting some pretty high goals for runs/obstacle courses (no where near 12 though) this year and am determined to keep myself on track. Best of luck!0
