Itchy hives after exercise?

No I have never had skin issues or sensitive to anything.
But after an intense cardio session, I break out in itchy hives all over my legs.
This doesn't deter me from getting my fitness on, but this crap is annoying! I tried googling it, and couldn't really narrow it down.
Does this happen to anyone else and do you know why this happens?

Great question - this has happened to me as well, mostly on my thighs! What the heck?0

My wife has exercise urticaria.
I believe she takes a Claritin or a Zyrtec before working out; seems to do the trick.0 -
It is mostly all over my thighs and hips too!
I did read something about being allergic to exercise. It just seemed crazy to me though! Allergic to it?!
I may have to try the allergy pill. Negative thing is ANY kind of allergy med knocks me out! That's the last thing I need before the gym. lol!
Maybe if I take it right after? It doesn't last too long, maybe an hour or so.0 -
i used to get it a lot.
mine seemed to be related to temperature somehow. like i would get them every time i exercised outdoors on a cold day and when i exercised hard enough to sweat.
i found that switching to moisture wicking clothing helped a lot. when i work out in cotton (unless its a flimsy cotton) then i get hives0 -
My sister and I get the same thing. If you take a non drowsy antihistamine before you work out you should be ok. I have to do this for the first week or so and then my body will adjust so I don't need to. I thought we were the only 2 this ever happened to. Thanks for the post.0

I got those just one time - wrote it off as an allergy to my laundry detergent! Sweat and heat bring more of it out of your clothing. Maybe try switching to a different detergent and see if that helps .0

You may also find that it's your detergent.
I had the same thing happen after we moved to a septic system and I had to change our detergent. Whenever I would sweat, the detergent in combination with the materials used in the dry-fit exercise clothing would cause the hives on the areas where I sweat the most. When I switched to a less soapy brand, added an extra rinse, and line dried them, I didn't have the problem anymore.0 -
Thank you so so so much for this post! I honestly ust thought this wasa completely random thing my mother and I battled with.
We have always found when really unfit its alot worse! And when we get to a certain level offitness it goes away I've been working hard at walking regularly lately and mine is starting to go away0
