I have one & love it. I was using a Fitbit for the past year (while I waited for Basis to launch). Right now, customer service is a little slow and people are kind of angry that it's taken so long to get one, but the wait was totally worth it. I was in early on with that Jawbone UP fiasco in 2011 & I'm so glad Basis waited until they were sure the product would work.
PROS:
*tracks heart rate over the course of the day & does a pretty good job of tracking during exercise so that I get a better idea of calorie burn
* is a watch, which is something I wear anyway, so it's not an extra gadget I have to keep up with.
* it is water resistant. I've showered and have done dishes while wearing it
* seems more accurate than the fitbit
CONS:
* Basis has no community forums. Fitbit Community on fitbit.com is pretty robust, making product troubleshooting easier, b/c someone else has likely had your problem & solved it.
* The dashboard, in my opinion, isn't great. I can't enter notes, like in FitBit, to show which activity I did on that day, so I have to track that somewhere else. I also can't export data. I'm guessing they'll do a premium membership eventually.
* Their habits thing that they talk about on the site is nice, but the habits are not customizable (yet?). I'm not interested in the sleep tracking perk of this watch, so all the sleep tracking habits don't mean anything to me (although they may be a big deal to someone else)
So, bottom line, I love the thing itself and the data it tracks, but I don't love the way the data is currently presented.
It will eventually sync via bluetooth. From what I hear the Android app is first up, not the iPhone, which most devices do, so that's a perk for some people (I have an iPhone).
I did a lot of research on all the existing and upcoming fitness trackers & Basis was the only one that met most of my requirements.0
