Hello,
I've just bought a good treadmill to start with my weight loss and am using this every day along with MFP calorie counting. The thing is, I'm not sure if my tradmills calorie counter is right. I used it for 40mins the other day mixing between extremely fast walking and running (broke a right sweat) and the treadmill told me id burnt 100 calories. Yesterday I did 30mins but more intense than the day before and it said id burnt 60 calories. MFP says i should have burnt triple that!!! Which is right? Someone please help...at the moment i've no idea how long i need to be working out and which to believe lol. My treadmill doesnt allow me to put my weight, age in etc. I am 21, female and weigh 14 stones. Thank you xx

Honestly, I dont think theyre ever right.
Your best bet it to invest in a heart rate monitor.
I have this one (http://www.polarusa.com/us-en/products/get_active) and I love it.
That way you'll ALWAYS be right, no worries.
Good luck0 -
Since it doesn't allow you to put in age, weight, etc it can't be very accurate.

Use the above site for calculating but use net figures as opposed to gross. Good luck!0 -
I use a polar hrm with mine and the treadmill reads twice as many cals burnt as I really burn. As pie says, I dont think they are ever right unless you have one that hooks into your hrm.0

I find the same with my treadmill - its closer than the ones mentioned here, but not as accurate as using a HRM. I would say you'd be using more than that - I'm 13 stone and 5'6" and ran/walked for 34 mins yesterday covering 3.4 k and used 226 cals.0

I'm only small (5ft / 102lb) and I would burn at least 200 cals doing the same exercise for 40 mins so it's definitely way out!
As others have said, a HRM is a great investment for anyone trying to lose weight or keep in shape. I have an FT40 and I love it!0
