Welcome! You're going to love it here! No tricks - but I can offer a few tips. Drink your water... all of it... and more. Cut out sodas - even diet ones. Focus as much on nutrition as you do on calorie counting - honestly, it'll make all the difference in the world as to how you FEEL and how you LOOK. Rediscover vegetables and fruit... eat one of each at every meal.
Lastly.... EAT! This is not like anything you've ever done before.... you'll probably eat MORE than you're used to eating, especially if you're exercising and getting "exercise calories" (eat those too).... the more you eat, the more you'll find that you lose. You'll probably find that this is a pretty easy way to lose weight and wonder why it took you so long to do it "the right way". LOL!
I look forward to watching you on your journey!0 -

Studies have shown that artificial flavors trigger changes in glucose levels which can trigger your body to actually produce more insulin - which can actually cause you to gain more weight. It will also make you crave more "sugar". That being said - I know exactly where you're coming from - so I'll share with you what I did... and still do when I'm struggling with plain water.
I started using the Crystal light packets for bottled water... then each day I would add less and less to each bottle of water. Now I can make one packet stretch over 6 bottles of water. I also like herbal tea - so part of my water at night comes from warm tea. Most days though - I drink just plain water now... your body really does come to crave it when you're drinking enough of it. Early on, I also bought diet Arizona iced tea and added water to it on a 50:50 ratio... now even that seems too sweet to me.
You'll read a lot of information on these boards and people are very passionate about what they've found works for them. It's a great site. Whatever you choose to do or not do today - just remember that you're doing better today than you were yesterday. I did not make all the changes at once. Figure out your calories, watch your nutrition, drink enough, then start watching your sodium, exercise, etc... You're going to do great!0 -
Welcome. Don't try to lose too fast... 1/2 a pound to 2 pounds a week is considered healthy weight loss. Learn how to eat. Balance dairy, fruits, veggies, carbs, and protein. Make sure you drink all of your water and get plenty of sleep. Exercise at least 3 times a week. Lastly, don't freak out if your weight seems to go in the wrong direction. Sodium, lack of sleep, and hormones can affect our weight. Don't think if you have one bad weigh in you have to reduce your calories drastically. If you're up instead of down one week, just drink lots of water and cut your sodium for a few days and see if it makes a difference.
Plan your meals the night before or the morning before you eat anything. It helps to balance the calories and make sure you get everything you're supposed to. You'd be surprised how hard it is to get proper nutrition in only 1200 cals. It can be done but it's tricky. You certainly can't get everything you need in less than 1200 cals.0 -
Thank you everyone!! Super encouraging and much needed!! Keep it up! Hard work pays off0

Hello, I am new to this site also. But I was following along with the online slimfast program before it changed. The best tip I have that worked for me was to pick a splurge day once every week or every other week after your weigh day. Your favorite meal or treat as a small reward for your acheivement. It also helps modivate you for the week to come. It also helps to curve cravings knowing you can have what you want at the end of the week.
Good luck! Believe in your self and you can do anything you put your mind to!
