Strength training help

I am looking for some help with establishing a strength training program for myself. I am trying to lose fat and gain muscle. I have some muscle now I have always been an athlete so I have decent fitness and have knowledge of training. What I am trying to find is some lifting routine that people have had success with. I can go to a gym and use the machines to work all of the body but I just feel like I am floating around if that makes sense. I think if I had some kind of a program or routine I would stick with it better. So any suggestions are welcome.

Search the forums for NROLW or either Starting Strength / Stronglifts. They're all well documented.0

Ive just finished the first stage of 'new rules of lifting for women' and have loved it... I come from a gymnastics, dance and athletics background and I found I could play with this program to suit my strengths and weathnesses... I have also seen some really great results in the shape and definition of muscles (such as an inner thigh gap has re appeared, I havent seen it for about 10 years)0

If your gym has a circuit, start with that. Do the circuit which should hit every body part, 4 times a week. Do the circuit 3 times each workout. Keep your reps between 12 & 15. Do cardio at least 4 or 5 days a week as well. Stick with it for 6 wks and see how it goes. Good luck????0

This is the program I followed in 2012. It basically goes against everything everyone else will tell you.

However, these were my results from following this program, and honestly they speak for themselves.

I like Chalean extreme. Uses just dumbells at weights I can afford to buy for home use.0

If you've ever thought about using a personal trainer, but thought it was too expensive, meeting one at the start of a strength training program really will give you a lot of bang for your buck. They should be able to give you a well-designed workout that you can follow for a few weeks, but more important, they'll check your form so that you don't get hurt. The safety issue is the real value. Try 2 sessions to learn the routine, and maybe do a 3rd if your form isn't great.0
