Stretch Marks

I'm 23, 5'7 1/2 and want to lose 110 lbs altogether. I've already lost 13, as of my last weigh in. I'm currently at 257 and want to get down to 160. I have a lot of stretch marks mostly on my upper arms and belly. Is there anything I can do to help get rid of them while I'm losing or will they just become less noticable as I lose? I don't want to get down to my goal weight and still have ugly stretch marks all over. I also worry about excess skin but from what everyone says on here strength training will help with avoiding that.

I hate to tell you this...but from my understanding and experience, stretch marks are permanent, unless surgically removed. I carry a bunch on my lower abdomen from giving birth to two daughters. They do fade over the years (as opposed to being bright pink). You can use lotion and other over the counter products to help them fade. A professional dermatologist may give you some better insight.0

BUMP for later
Im interested in hearing opinions too. My first pregnancy was awful with stretch marks. but then again I was 19 and ate what I wanted when I wanted and gained 50 lbs. Went 7 months without any then over night it looked like Freddy Kruger got a hold of me!
Second pregnancy wasn't that bad, but I was far more aware of what I was eating and didn't gain a bunch of weight.
My 4 year old asked me a while back, "Mommy why does your belly look like a zebra?" Bahahahahaha because of you kid, because of you...0 -
I have a degree in massage and spa therapy and one thing we learned is that coconut oil can help fade them , they will not go away but will be less. Hope it helps (: I get my coconut oil from trader joes (:0

I need to start getting weekly massages anyway! I also heard that getting massages will help with the loose skin prevention. But YEAH RIGHT like I can afford a weekly massage! In my dreams, maybe! lol Of course if I started practicing again I could probably trade with my cousin...0 -
Stretch marks arent colorations of the skin...its TEARING of the skin. That means it won't go away even if you become skinny.0

My experience is no one but me really notices them. When you are rocking the new you, that will be the last thing people notice. One of my favorite images on MFP is this:

I was skinny as a child but started eating too much in an effort to gain muscle weight, too rapidly. As a result I have stretch marks about my armpits and lower abdominals. They do become less noticeable over time, though. People usually don't see them unless I point them out.

Lotion, they never go away but fade.0

They become white over time. My sides and arms are riddled with them. I've given up trying to hide them.. they're my battle stripes. One day when I'm smaller they will be a reminder of how far I've come. I can't get rid of them so might as well change my outlook on them, right?0

They never go away completely, only fade in time. I have 2 children, gaining atleast 50-65 lbs for each and stretch marks are all over my stomach from the first. When I am trying to lose weight, I mix Vaseline cocoa lotion (or use whatever you want) with 100% pure Almond Oil. Always keeps my skin moist and tight as I slim down0

Thanks for the tips everyone! I've been reading online about how to reduce the risks of excess skin and help with the stretch marks. I know they will never go away. I just want them to be less noticable. So lotion, oil, massage, strength training, water, and exfoliation it is!0

I have stretch marks down my armpits and boobs (from them growing too quickly as a teen) and a lot on my stomach from getting fat in general. They aren't just discolored, I can actually FEEL them. They're like little valleys. I know they're never going away.0
