Daily calorie allowance

If I can have 1600 calories a day, and exercise bumps me up to 2000, shouldn't I still take in 1600 to 'lose' weight? Why are my exercise calories added to my daily caloric allowance?

  • because the 1600 hundred calories is what the site calculates for you to be able to eat and lose weight if you're sedentary. However, when you exercise, you burn more calories. You should eat at least some of these back because if you don't, many people's bodies go into "starvation" mode. Basically, your body thinks you're working too hard and not getting enough food, and so it stores as much fat as it can in case of further hard times :(

    more fat doesn't make anyone happy.

    Some people believe you should eat your burned calories, some do not. I do not eat my exercise calories because I see faster results when I do not.

  • Thank you ... when I was on WW ... it separated your 'food points' from your 'exercise points'. I have that concept in my mind.... need to erase it! LOL
