Your story is a true inspiration to me. I'm literally crying because I am embarking on almost the same journey. I hated running when I was in high school. HATED it. And I don't hate very many things. I started my C25K journey last week and it was hard. I thought I was going to puke on the treadmill. I did 1.5 miles with a 0% incline and it sucked. Earlier today/yesterday, I did W2D1 and I did 2.5 miles with a 1% incline. And it still sucked, but I'm already seeing improvements. I'm hoping, after all my hard work, I can be where you are today, running 5Ks, 10Ks, half-marathons, etc.
Congratulations on your accomplishments and I hope I'll start collecting some of that awesome bling soon, too.0 -
That's a fabulous achievement to make such fantastic running progress in such a short time, you deserve to feel well and truly proud of yourself. What's next? :flowerforyou:0

What an achievement! I want to get into running, but I think I need to get a fitter first. It's great to read such an inspiring story!0

Long term, I want to run a full marathon and then possibly an ultra. For now I plan to do more halfs this year and keep pushing myself.0 -
What a great story!!!
I definitely see a full marathon in your future!0 -
I'm a new runner also (running my 3rd 5K in March) and I'm SO SLOW - all my friends leave me in the dust. :-( But I've committed to running a half in November and I love your story! So motivating!! Thanks for posting.0

Fantastic! So happy to hear you reached your goals.
It was great being in the C25K group you started. Unfortunately, I had to finally accept that my knee will not allow me to go for longer distances.
So, I signed up for a Spring Triathlon in July. 1/4 mile swim, 11 mile bike ride and a 3.1 mile run. (I figure since the run is last, I can grin and bear it to the finish. ) I got a gym membership and started swimming. I am not good but I just keep thinking that its like the C25K program. Little steps each week and I am already seeing improvements. I've talked three other people into doing it with me because I found that having the group to "train" with really helped to push me along. Thank you for that!
Keep up the running and collecting that bling! I cherish the trophy I won on my first 5K.0 -
Aww - I'm sorry your knee has been so rough on you. I had wondered but figured if it was really proving bad me bugging you wouldn't have been welcomed. A triathalon sounds AWESOME - maybe some day I'll get a bike and try my hand at that! Good luck with it - I'm sure you'll be amazing0

Wow. You are incredible! Amazing job. I've been debating about when to start back up my running and I think it will be today. I can do this. Thank you for the wonderful, inspirational story.0

You definitly can! If I can - the girl who couldn't run - you can!0

Wow... thank you for sharing your story. I am on the running journey as well. I have completed 4 5k's and looking for my first 10K to run. You are an inspiration!0

YOU GO GIRL!!!!!0

Amazing story, congrats on reaching your goals!!0

NIce! You completed your first 5K 2 days before I did my first 5K - and only now am I getting to doing a 10K/12K... Still not convinced I want to be bothered for the half... Though maybe I can call myself a runner now, I can't say that I've learned to love it yet. But sticking with it, and we'll see... I've yet to run the 10K and upcoming 12K races - though I've run them on my own. Maybe this will be enough to inspire/convince me to go for the the half, though I'm convinced I'll still be bored after 2-3 hours of running0

Your story brought tears to my eyes!
Inspiring!

So awesome!
Sadly, I am not THAT GIRL yet... I am the old you. The one that can't make it very long running. I can only make it 60 seconds running on the treadmill at 5.0 mph, 90 seconds max. If I put the speed down to 4.0 and do a slower run/jog, I can make it up to 3 minutes, sometimes as much as 5. And that's it. Sigh.
You are an inspiration and I will keep working on it.

I totally used to feel that way. But it was such an incredible sense of accomplishment, even if I was slow - just honestly incredible. I felt pretty incredible after my 10K too - I have anotehr next month (is anyone surprised I picked one with a medal? Haha...) and am really, really looking forward to it.So awesome!

That's where it starts! Have you tried the couch to 5K? I found that my old problems with running was that I was trying to go too fast and that doing it incrementally increased my endurance a lot. You -can- do it - believe me, because I did!0 -
What a great story. Thank you for sharing0
-
Well Done! You are an inspiration to me. I have done a few 3K runs/walks - i am a SERIOUS BEGINNER - and i want to build up to a 5k charity run!0

It`s nice to know that I`m not the only one that love the 90 seconds but this post inspires me to push through as I HATE running at this moment.0

Thank you for telling your wonderful story. I teared up a few times reading it. Well done!0
