i've been bringing lunches to school for years. My typical lunch is:
-turkey sandwich on a sandwich thin (you could do any lunch meat or peanut butter)
-apple
-cheese stick
-fiber one/other healthy granola bar (aka, not chewy or other sugar loaded ones)
-carrots (on a good day)
other things that i bring somtimes are wheat things w/ laughing cow cheese, goldfish, grapes, yogurt, and cucumbers.
I always try to make sure that I have a good source of protein and at least one fruit or veggie. I try to only let myself have one starchy carb outside of the sandwich and granola bar. For example, a sandwich, granola bar, wheat thins, and goldfish would be a lot of carbs and i'd replace one of the last two things with a fruit or veggie or both!

Salads work well. I like taco salad, salad with feta and chicken on it, or a thermos with soup (pour really hot water in it first to heat it up, pour it out and put in the soup). flat bread with hummus, tomato, and cukes or arugula, red pepper humus with celery and a couple of hard boiled eggs.0

I bring my lunch to work. I've found a soup/sandwich/snack combo is the easiest to prep & for different variety. There are all different kinds of soups/stews you can heat up & throw in a thermos; and all different kinds of sandwich options too. Deli, grilled, pannini, sweet, savory, loaded with veggies, different kinds of breads/buns....its easy to mix it up.0
