Determined Damsel in Distress

Hey all--

My name is Elisha, I'm twenty pounds overweight, and I could never find the motivation to finally work it off. What was the harm in one last strawberry shortcake? Poptarts aren't bad, they have... cherry filling... right?

I figured the best way to lose weight would be to get on a site, to document and blog about my progress, to see what I achieved, to read about others and their struggles, and to have other people read about mine.

Everyone needs a support system, and I'm just tired of mine telling me that I don't need to lose weight.
I appreciate the support, guys, but you haven't seen me in my bathing suit. Trust me... I do.

So here's to anyone who needs someone to vent to about doing the jean squat, the tummy tuck, the form-fitting undershirt, the oversized clothes, or saying, "I'll start on Monday... Monday sounds like a fresh start" and for some reason Monday never coming.

So say hello. I'm sure we have plenty to talk about :)

Yes! I'm the same way! I work out and do so well for a week, but then one afternoon I decide. . . I've done well, I can take a nap now. Or. . . I've kept it down to 1,200 calories every day for a week, and that fudge brownie sundae just looks like sin with whip cream on top, and we all know how good that is! Once I break routine, there's no hope for me, and it's a downhill slide of eating everything in sight and watching 7 hour long CSI marathons instead of spending 45 minutes of that jogging, haha.

Still, 19 lbs is fantastic! Gosh, if I had the will power to lose 19 lbs, I'm pretty sure that I would celebrate and go to the cheesecake factory... oh... there's my problem again... stupid cheesecake >_<

You should hang in there too, you're obviously doing a good job. Even if the fat is being stubborn... 19 pounds?! That's 66,500 calories that you have worked off. Now THAT'S will power.

Keep it up! Sounds like you're way better off than I am :)

Haha hey if I have to do the leapfrog for ten minutes to fit comfortably into my favorite pair of jeans, I'll do what it takes!
  • Welcome to MFP. I have to tell you this site has been the most advantageous tool in my "getting back to my old self" mind set. It has given me the knowledge and tools to get my goal into a reachable site.

What is so great about your journey is that you have the whole world ahead of you....
& your body will respond to whatever you do to it! If it's gonna be a pop tart or chocolate fudge, it'll take it, but because you're so very young your body will also respond to your hard work to make it healthy and beautiful!

I love salty chips and anything covered in cheese... !
They don't love me back so well.

At more than twice your age, I can't make my body snap back!
It's just a little tired of all the gains and losses, and it doesn't care what kind of workout I plan...so,
My advice to you is grab that youth and channel it to become whatever it is that gives you the most power and happiness!

    Love life...it'll love you back!

Greetings! I loled when I saw the jean squat. TOTALLY did that. Now if I squat too much, my current size jeans get baggy butt issues. I've been throwing my jeans in the wash after one wearing. Anyway, welcome to the site and its definitely a great way to stay accountable for what you're eating and what you're burning. College definitely is hard, but I managed to lose 15 pounds without realizing it last semester! One very strenuous walk up a massive hill to campus and living out of a mini fridge helped, but there are more conventional ways to go about it :D

Thanks for the welcome, beloggins :) you're right about the tools, this site is pretty fantastic.
And Hooah, there's nothing I like more than a big bowl of warm queso from my favorite mexican place.

If only this was a perfect world where junk food was like celery... your body worked so hard to process that crap you burn off more than you just chewed. I am sort of relying on the youthful metabolism to jumpstart my diet and keep it moving steadily. But 20 pounds is a fantastic start :D

00trayn, I am counting down the days until my skinny jeans become my fat jeans. Thanks for the welcome :) and yeah, this site hopefully will replace facebook as my online addiction and keep me motivated and continuing going to the gym. There are only two weeks left of school so I'm hoping to get myself in good eating/exercising habits for when I get home--and unfortunately I have an older brother eats so much that there is always food in the house to satiate his endless hunger.

Which leaves me with an endless supply of junk food to break my will :(

Ugh, those are the days I need the encouragement :,(
