Why do the breasts go first?

This may seem like a joke question, but it's not. I just wonder if there is a scientific reason why it seems so many women lose in the breasts first. The ONE thing I like about myself this size is my breasts, they actually fill out a shirt as opposed to me at my goal weight.
Note: not at all trying to say that you need them to be beautiful, it's just something that I'm curious about.

i would think because its such an easily accessible area of fat. one that is not needed for vital functions.
(speaking from a theoretical evolutionary standpoint... dunno if its true)0 -
Mine don't. Even when I was about 50 pounds lighter than I am now (6.5 years ago), they were the same cup size, and I only went don't one band size.
Do you want mine? I'm willing to give up half!0 -
Please don't let my boobs get smaller when I lose this weight!! Ack!0

In and adverse question to yours: why do they seem to get larger after losing 20lbs+ ? Mine actually got larger..it seemed that all of my lost weight went right to my breasts!! I went up two cup sizes! Im still having a hard time adjusting to this and still in shock...0

It's a breast feeding thing. They fat above your breasts (that part that makes them look "full") is the first thing turned into food energy. Nursing will eat through that fat quicker than any weight loss.0
-
Just depends on your body type. That doesn't happen to me, even at a size 2 I was a 34C0

I lost my thighs first. My bra size didn't go down until about 20 lbs in.0
-
Um, because they're in front of you...0
-
They don't for me.0

I always thought that breasts are mostly fat...I lose those first as well. And when I gain weight I can tell by my breasts (and stomach)0

Please don't let my boobs get smaller when I lose this weight!! Ack!
LOL mine were small when i was fat, and they are still small....... no wait they are SMALLER now!
sorry to burst your bubble!0 -
I don't know, but I don't approve!! Mine shrank when I lost weight last year. Before I re-signed up on here a couple nights ago, I'd been binge-eating for almost 2 weeks, and my boobs became much, much fuller! I was thrilled :drinker: But wasn't thrilled to see how much weight I gained, hence me back on here. I really don't wanna lose 'em again, haha0

My boobs are the very LAST thing to go. Not sure why different parts slim down at different rates on different people. Good question.0

I have lost inches in my chest and back but not breast/cup size. So I am happy.0

So what are you going to do? Not lose weight? Why worry about something you can't control?0

I can't wait for mine to go.0

I'm an A no matter how much I weigh. Yay me!0

All depends on the fat to fiber ratio in the breast. Those with not much of a fiber matrix will lose the fat and deflate. Those who have more fiber in their breasts will lose, but lose less.
There's actually a special bra called "BRAVA" (stands for something) that they use before a fat transfer from somewhere else on the body (tummy, hips or thighs). The fat (called an Autologous Fat Transfer) is gained through liposuction of the area that needs to be slimmed and then it is liquified and injected into the breast (no surgical scars as there would be with implants). From what I have read, the week before the fat transfer, the BRAVA treatment puts gentle suction on the breast to cause the breast to "beef up" its collagen matrix. The increased fiber in the breast then accepts the injected fat and holds it in place (instead of letting it migrate). The procedure is more expensive than implants. The original AFT was not very successful. Plastic surgeons are hopeful that this will be the answer to eliminate implants. This new procedure gives a much more normal look and feel to the breast and it is permanent--unlike implants which must be replaced every ten years or so.0 -
It is all genetics.
I sometime miss my boobs but I like my new body fit body more0 -
Mine are the same. I think it just depends on the person.0

I tend to loose in my breasts as well, but this time around I lost a good portion of my back fat (yay!) and then some from my waist. Works for me!0

i want to know the same thing i was a full dd and now im a small d almost c it suckkksss!!0

Almost 30lbs down and i have gone down 1 band size but retained the cup size (if that makes sense). I always thought I had smaller boobs, but as my waist decreases my boobs are looking bigger. I still have at least 40lbs to go so we'll see, but I carry most of my weight in my butt and thighs so I don't see my boobs getting much smaller when I have so much more to lose else where. I look back to when I was a teen, and my boobs are about that same size now. Some people just carry more fatty tissue there, other people carry more glandular tissue there.0

Ok, breast feeding makes sense, before kids I WAS smaller yet and the glandular tissue makes sense as well. I WAS a C/D and after only 10 lbs lost really now barely a C! After my 3rd child I was barely a B. I don't like how I look now, but one thing that bothers me about my skinny self is that I have the long torso so I have to buy bigger shirts anyway. I use to get asked if I had a mastectomy (which is incredibly rude) because of the shirts being so loose.
I certainly don't mean to sound all bothered and not going to try and lose, I was just hoping to keep some up top and get rid of the bottom, who knows maybe a transplant from hips and butt to chest LOL0 -
Ugh! I wish!! lol I'm an H cup and I lost 75 pounds and they didn't get ANY smaller!! Guess I'm stuck with them!0
-
Well I really don't know but these (.)(.) Need to decrease sooner than later0

I was a 34C for most of my adult life until I began putting on weight in my late 40s. By my mid 50's I was a 36D. I lost the weight in the reverse order that I'd gained it - from the upper torso down rather than the belly up - and was a 34C again before my jeans went down a full size. I've since dropped from size 14 to size 4 jeans and am still a 34C. I don't think my actual breast size really changed all that much, on the way up or the way down. I just seemed that way because of the surplus fat that was piled on around them for a while.0

I wish mine did! I've lost weight, trimmed from my arms, legs, waist, and hips, and I went up a cup size! It's *so* not fair.0

Sometimes when we are big then the boobies are big. when we lose weight the boobs go down as well.
If you are genetically given large breasts and lose weight then chances are they will stay large.
Just depends I guess. I went from 200 pounds 38 C to 129 pounds (134 right now) to 34 C.0 -
I don't gain nor lose in the boobie department. They always remain 36Bs :grumble:0
