In all seriousness: shots, sex and running, and not necessarily in that order but they all have their place. Work hard. Play hard.0

i pick things up and put them down
i run away for 6-8 miles
I ramble and talk nonsense and made up words and get all flustered cause I cant communicate why im so stuck until someone stops and listens to me
You shove it down and you let it come out in spurts of violence and alcoholism0 -
I've got "anti-kill people pills." They're working, so far.
Gym 90 minutes a day with regular visits to the heavy bag.0 -

Can you share some with me? lol What are you on? I'm thinking it might be time to consider getting on some Lexapro or similar anti-depressant.0 -
Stressed or blue/sad? I find both to be completely different for me. But anyway, what helps me...
1. RANT about your stressor. Get it out of your system & to a friend/family member that will listen or say things to comfort you (Whether that's advice, sympathy, "I know how you feel," or jokes, that's up to you). If you can't talk to them upfront, texting or messaging online works well too.
2. Go see a movie. This helped me a lot when I was depressed or stressed. I would get sucked into the movie & forget about my stress for a good 1.5-2hrs. Plus the idea of getting out of the house & with a friend makes you feel more productive compared to laying around the house lethargically.
3. Bike ride, rollerblade or walk. I live in southern Canada, so I know that's hard to do in the winter. Try cruising around in your car to some uplifting or dancy songs (I suppose some ppl mayblike sad/angry songs but personally that makes me more stressed/sad). Make sure you pick a calm area to drive in (No traffic, slow speed limits, scenic). That calms me.
4. Take a nap! Sometimes laying on the couch curled up with a blanket feels better than eating loads of snacks in front of the tv (Which leads to diet guilt or that gross overstuffed feeling).
5. Hold your cat! Hug your dog! Pet or play with a little animal0 -

Just the garden variety anti-depressant. Helps me keep the lid on the angry monster.0 -
Have you tried a hot yoga class? NOT BIKRAM but a foundations or restorative hot yoga works wonders (I go just once a week and it's fantastic). Also yes to exercise - best way is with a gym buddy to get you there. I hired a trainer but that's expensive so will soon be going alone. After a year of regular gym and hot yoga I just got off my anti-depressant I've been on for 6 years!0

I find exercise helps me, especially zumba and spinning. I had a stressful day at work today (I teach at a secondary school in England in quite a rough area) and did zumba after and that really helped me chill out a bit!
I have 2 young kids which can be hard work, and my husband does shift work so I'm often on my own doing everything. My kids are asleep now so I'm making a bath so I can relax in that.
Getting 'me' time helps a lot. I get my 'me' time a the gym, but you could try going for a walk, going to a café and reading for a bit, meeting a friend for a chat etc.0 -
I agree with what the others said. Get some 'Me" time in. I do everynight- I walk the dog for thirty minutes (even in the dark in the dead of winter) and it clears my head. I feel so much better when I get home.
Then when the kids go to bed, I take an hour before my own bedtime to relax, watch TV, read books, magazines, surfing Pinterest or anything else that is non-stress related.
I couldn't do without these little me times. I also have found that looking forward to being in good shape is very uplifting.
Keep it up! Better times are ahead!0 -
I was under a sub par level stress like you a few days ago when I had my exams....
Advice = listen to calm music whenever possible and workout to temporarily put your mind off the worldly problems around your life... Don't forget to get your sleep, 8 hours to stay happy!0 -
Thank you all!0

What I have been doing (which resulted in regaining all I lost last year): ice cream, chips and wine/liquor.
What I am trying to do: regular morning exercise before the kid is awake and 45 minutes to an hour of Mommy tv zone out time at night with dvds (from the library some cool shows I never saw, movies don't work as they are too long and tempt me to stay up too late) watched while I am on the floor doing stretches and simple strength exercises while drinking my flavored seltzer (while imagining it is a cocktail).
Good luck!0
