Food temptations

So, I am currently at work and a customer just brought in mint oreos for us, we also have dark chocolate truffles back here and my boss brought cinnamon rolls. I just want one!! But I know I don't need it! I'm out of water but can't get more until the next person shows up to work. Help!

I wish I knew the magic words to help you. You sound just like a post I made about an hour ago. Stay strong is easy to say but hard to do. You know what you need to do to keep from backsliding - ditto. Good luck! I will be facing a similar story next Friday and I'm already afraid.
  • Thank you! Just hearing someone tell me to hang in there helps a lot. I don't feel like I'm in this alone then haha. Hang in there next Friday!

Thanks, I got some really good advice on my party worries post if you'd care to check it out. In a nutshell, take a sample of your favorite - not too much, just a few bites and work those calories into the rest of your daily plan. One person gave me some advice about eating a filling breakfast which makes sense, but unfortunately, my eating rarely has anything to do with being hungry!

If you have the calories for a small something, have the treat. Losing weight and getting fit isn't about depriving yourself of things you want but about learning not to eat those things all the time. I'm consistantly losing weight each week while still eating treats. I just eat a lot less of them and less often. I also don't have "binges" because nothing is restricted. If I want something unhealthy, I just incorporate it into my meal plan for the day and adjust accordingly. Good luck on whatever you decide.

You can and WILL get through this...there will be many more but just keep telling yourself you CAN do it and remind yourself why you are doing what you are doing. Reward yourself from time to time, but you have to remember to do so in moderation. I just downed a 'My Favorit Muffin' chocolate chip muffin (>600 calories) but cycled about 25 miles this morning so burned a little over 800 calories...why am I saying this, not to brag, but just like spending, you want more money to spend, you earn more, you want to have that cookie(s), then you may have to exercise more.

I will pray you have a great day and just put things into perspective and enjoy what you like in moderation. the changes you make today must be maintained for a lifetime if you want to keep the weight off.
  • Thank you guys so much! I think I'll have one or two since I will be able to fit it into my calories for the day.

I agree with this. A little something here and there isn't going to derail anything. It's all about making better nutritional decisions most of the time, not necessarily 100% of the time.

When you're tempted to eat something that isn't exactly good for you but looks/smells delicious, you really just want to experience the taste too, right? Now, storebought stuff (like Oreo's), you know what those taste like right? So you're all set with those. The homemade stuff is what you need to try! Have a decent sized bite of the one that you REALLY want. You get a full experience of the taste for (hopefully) less than 100 calories, and the craving will go away without any guilt. It helps me to think about this, so maybe it will help you too.

There's stuff at my work all the time. If it's been specially baked by someone, I'll try a bit. But if it's just been bought in a shop, what's the big deal? It's just a biscuit, after all.
