Anyone have any good results with Hydroxycut?

If I've said this once, I've said it a hundred times.... UNLESS & UNTIL you see Oprah Winfrey skinny as a toothpick, accept this an uncontrovertible fact.... There is NO MIRACLE CURE for fat and weight loss that you can buy and take. PERIOD. No IFs, ANDs or BUTs about it. With all her money and her constant quest for health and weight loss... if it could be bought in a pill, she'd have it. So, just dig in and get ready to WORK for it. NO EASY SOLUTIONS. NO MAGIC PILLS.
I've tried a bunch of different stuff for a bunch of different reasons. Sometimes I take "diet pills" for energy, though I'm sensitive to caffeine. Don't mean to sound like a broken record, but it mostly comes down to diet & exercise.0 -
What's going on in here? Oh ok...0 -
Metabolife was great when it had the evil ephedra, but I was also a lot younger then and could handle it. It was an excellent appetite suppressant, but it did jack up your heart rate. I've tried the Hoodia, I've tried the chromium, I've done it all. This is the best place yet. It's slow as molasses if you do it the right way and don't try to rush, but it does work.0

The other thing is I like how people post on these things without indicating whether they've even taken Hydroxycut, which I assume means they have not.
I have tried a fair deal of things, will not get into specifics. I think when used correctly there are products that work great, but in this situation for this person I think its a bad idea. My reason is when you are just starting out you will be placing enough stress on your body as it is. My advice would change if it were a situation where someone wanted to go from 11%bf to 9% which is where I think supplements are useful.
Also one of the actives in Hydroxycut is Yohimbe, which a fair share of people have strange reactions to (myself included).0 -
It's just caffeine. Seriously.0
-
Nope... only a racing heart and an upset stomach... and no lost weight... But hey, I was young and didn't know any better.
And it is just caffeine.0 -
I understand that some of you disagree with the use of diet pills, but as you can see from my original post I already wrote that I am counting calories and exercising. It's irritating that I can't get an answer from someone that isn't acting like all I want to do is take this pill and magically lose weight while not doing anything else. I'm not looking to lose weight super fast, I 'm just hoping this will help me with my metabolism.
I'll be wary because I read the responses that said some people became ill. Thanks for the advice from the people who actually read my whole post.
Drink green tea and/or take some Vitamin B Complex (or eat more foods with Vitamin B in it) to boost your metabolism rather than taking a lab created drug that may or may not work...0 -
Save your money. Why try an easy road. It may help you lose but you only gain it back. Do the work and you will get far better results0
-
It actually helps with your hunger BUT if you eat too little while on them then you will more than likely gain it all back plus some when off of them. My sister tends to go on and off those types of pills for short term weight loss. A healthy lifestyle is truly the way to go for permanent loss. :happy:0

I took it years ago. Lost about 3 lbs overnight, got super dehydrated, nothing happened after that, honest answer. So no. It's water weight.0

It is expensive because they say it is expensive, and you will buy it because you want to look like those models that are just models and not actual customers (look at the small print).
If you don't do it naturally, you are just asking for trouble, hate to tell ya. Your body gained weight naturally, and it should lose it naturally. You are just putting manufactured chemicals into your body. It is like Extenze for my penis. It will eventually make my penis bigger, but only if I keep taking it, and I will probably die of a heart attack because of it. Go figure.
I wish you luck, but you are playing with fire taking them diet pills. Take that money, and invest in a nutritional coach, would be my advice. Good luck wherever your route will go.0 -
It sounds like you were successful in losing some weight before you hit your plateau. You can do this through calorie counting and exercise because you have done it before. Of course, it will take patience, hard work, and dedication, but you CAN do this the healthy way!
Please take all of the advice you are getting to heart, as diet pills are no joke. I'm not going to get judgmental on you, but please know that losing the weight quickly is not worth the damage you could potentially do to your body.
If you absolutely feel like you need something to help you in your efforts, please talk to a doctor first.0 -
I tried hydroxycut a few years ago - it made me really sick (like a developed stomach ulcers and it took months for them to go away). It's really not very safe and very hard on your system. Because of this I wouldn't recommend that to anyone.
Try going to GNC. I tried out something that had CLA, Raspberry Ketones and another ingredient (they were all safe/naturally occurring). It also had no caffeine. It seemed to help me when I first started working out although I stopped taking it after a month. Try doing some research on the web - there are many herbs that when you take them they help speed your metabolism a little. Although for me the way I've sped mine up is by eating several smaller meals and regular exercise each week.0 -

I'm going to stick to the same range of calories whether I'm on them or off. And for the MILLIONTH time, I'm STILL DOING THE WORK, NOT JUST TAKING HYDROXYCUT. I swear, do you people not know how to read?0 -

See the issue i have with this is, you dont need to try something to know its bad for you... have you tried meth or the hcg diet? I havent but i know they are bad. If you understand the science behind stuff you can make personable decision and have a good discussion without experience. Lets face it, if pills worked the Americans would be so obese, we love our pills...
I have had several friends take them.. guess what.. they are still over weight. If you could actually show me a double blind study that shows significant improves in fat loss while taking this i might believe it works... until then its no different than anything on Dr. Oz IMHO.0 -
Hrdroxycut made me take 2 ovrdoses and go bulimic. It only "works" as a placebo and due to the amount of caffeine. Drink 3 litres of water a day, eat clean, exercise, have a few cups of tea. It really is that simple.0

We did read your post and we did understand that you are going to be working out and cutting calories. We were just answering your question.... the working out and cutting calories is what will work... the pills will not. They never do. They make you jittery with caffeine. They cost you big bucks. And, you would be better spending your money on weights, fitness equipment, gym memberships, or pretty much anything else. If there were a pill that "really works" ergo is "worth the money" (your question)... Oprah would've bought it, used it, hyped it and become skinny. They don't exist. Most all are glorified caffeine pills with other herbal or chemical stimulants mixed in and don't really "tip the scales" for you.0 -
"Liver damage and acute liver failure are among the most serious side effects of Hydroxycut. The United States Food and Drug Administration reported 23 cases of liver problems that developed in people who used Hydroxycut. A teenage boy died in 2007 after using Hydroxycut. The patients were previously healthy, aside from their wish to lose weight. They took the medication as prescribed -- in the proper dosage -- but still suffered liver damage. Symptoms accompanying liver damage include jaundicing of the skin and the whites of the eyes along with brown-colored urine.
Other Side Effects
Besides liver damage, the FDA has linked using Hydroycut to other serious side effects and health problems, including nausea and vomiting, fatigue, weakness, itching and loss of appetite. The FDA also states that Hydroxycut can cause or aggravate seizures and cardiovascular damage, ranging from arrhythmia, or irregular heart beats up to and including heart attacks. Another serious potential side effect of using Hydroxycut is rhabdomyolysis, a disorder that causes muscle damage that can result in kidney failure.
Recall and Lawsuits
In 2009, the FDA issued a warning to consumers to stop using all versions of Hydroxycut products. After the FDA issued its warning, Iovate Health Sciences Inc., which manufactures Hydroxycut issued a voluntary recall of all its products. This was not the first time that Hydroxycut had been linked with health problems. Prior to 2004, Hydroxycut included ephedra as an active ingredient. After ephedra was banned from dietary supplements in the United States, the company stopped using ephedra in its products. As a result of the health problems users have suffered, several law firms have begun representing clients seeking monetary damages for health problems they claim resulted from their use of Hydroxycut."

"Hydroxycut
Hydroxycut is a group of dietary supplements sold as both weight loss and fat loss aids.
The active ingredients in most Hydroxycut products are:
Lady's mantle extract (alchemilla vulgaris)
Wild olive extract (olea europaea)
Komijn extract (cuminum cyminum)
Wild mint extract (mentha longifolia)
Some Hydroxycut products contain green coffee bean extract.
Is Hydroxycut Safe?
The safety and effectiveness of Hydroxycut products have not been evaluated by the FDA. That's because dietary supplements are exempt from FDA regulation. They do not need to undergo the kind of rigorous testing that the FDA requires of new drugs.
Instead, the supplement maker is responsible for verifying any claims made about its product.
But the FDA investigates when it gets reports that a supplement may be harmful. And sometimes the agency orders recalls of unsafe products.
There are no studies on the safety of any Hydroxycut product.
The warnings on Hydroxycut's label say the product should not be used by anyone under 18. Users are advised to seek medical attention if any "unusual symptoms" occur. The label does not specify what those symptoms could be or what side effects, if any, have been reported.
The label also advises users to consult a doctor before using Hydroxycut if they or a family member have ever been treated for or diagnosed with any medical condition.
Earlier Version of Hydroxycut
Safety concerns about an earlier version of Hydroxycut drew the attention of the FDA. In May 2009, Hydroxycut products were recalled after the FDA issued a safety warning. The FDA had received 23 reports of liver problems among people who took them.
In some cases, the liver damage was severe enough to require a transplant. One death also occurred.
Other problems reported to the FDA included:
Seizures
Rhabdomyolysis (muscle-damaging condition that can lead to kidney failure)
Heart attack, irregular heartbeat, and other cardiovascular concerns
At the time, the main active ingredient in Hydroxycut was a fruit extract called hydroxycitric acid (HCA). The makers of Hydroxycut have since stopped using HCA in its formulas.
*****However, the health concerns that sparked the recall were never directly tied to HCA. And HCA remains the active ingredient in several weight loss supplements currently available, such as Super CitriMax.*****"

KelleyeMontana,
Please read the information I just posted from Livestrong and WebMD. With data like that and the company TWICE having to recall and reformulate this very product due to SERIOUS health problems, liver failure, transplants needed and DEATH.... And NO indication that the reformulation addresses what was causing the health problems... with class action law suits pending because of this very product... I don't NEED to "try" it personally. I also don't feel a need to swallow battery acid, eat dog poop, or bathe in a straight Clorox dip. Somethings are just a bad idea UNtried. I *can* and do choose to learn from other's mistakes.0
