Okay, even more "good grief"! I had a job where one of our DEC systems actually booted from one of those giant floppies. That was in the early 90's. I believe I sold that machine as scrap to a company that extracted precious metals (like gold) from old computing equipment.

Or my favorite, Zork.
"It is dark here.
You walk straight into the jaws of a slavering grue.
*** You have died. ***
*** You have died. ***
*** You have died. ***"
The strangest part? I have copies of both of these games on 3.5" floppy disks sitting on my desk right now.0 -
ACK!! This at an even older job, circa 1985. It was how we loaded the daily data processing programs. The service guys who came out to repair the punch card reader when it (frequently) broke down had literally been brought back out of retirement by IBM just to keep the dinosaurs running!0 -

I did a thesis using punch cards for my data....187 characters per line...had to space out the words so you didn't hyphenate any words....obviously no wrap around text0

i would kill for one of these that works with the modern phone system.
i hate the flimsy, cheap, plastic pieces of junk that now pass themselves off as desk phones.
i want something solid like that old phone, that stays put on the desk even if i swivel my chair while i'm talking on the phone. also, there was something satisfying about dialing those old rotary phones, as well as the sound they made when the dial moved back to its original position.0 -

If you remember Mr Dressup then you must remember The Friendly Giant. I even learned to speak some french by watching "Chez Helene". (Found pics of friendly giant, but clueless to posting them)for the Canadians...
