Hello. I was just wondering if it's normal having heart palpatations while working out. I don't think I'm over doing it like I use to so I don't know why I'm getting them. The other night my heart was vibrating like literally shaking my chest and stomach. It was scary but only lasted for about 5 minutes and it was after my workout. Ive actUally been having palpatations since the 4th of this month every single day up until a few days ago when I stopped. I am not motivated anymore because it's really scary and I don't want to have a heart attack. I stopped working out for about 4 days (also didnt really even fill out my food diary) and just started excersizing today. After about 12 minutes on my elliptical I had palpations about 10 times in a row. Is it normal or should I go see a cardiologist?
PS after the 4th I had an EKG done it was normal.
August of 2012 I had an echocardiogram done - normal.

I would suggest having a stress test done since you say it happens when you exercise. They make you walk on a treadmill basically just adjusting the difficulty through incline and monitor your heart rate during and for a little while after. Takes maybe 10-20 minutes on the treadmill though. .0

Consult a doctor. People here shouldn't give advice for something as potentially dangerous as this.0

yes, definitely have a stress test done. or wear a 24 hour loop recorder.
go see your cardiologist and see what he has to say. are you having a really irregular rhythm or does it just feel like your heart is beating harder/faster?0 -

Thanks for the replies! I forgot to mention that I had a stress test in 2010 it was also normal but I wasn't having palpatations during that time. And yes they are very irregular. My doctor did tell me to see my cardiologist but I have been putting it off becaus I don't want to find out its something serious. First thing tomorrow morning I'm calling him! Thanks again!0

That happened to me and I had to go see a doctor. Don't wait for it to get bad or pass out. It could be really dangerous. Just take it slow and make sure you get cleared for everything.0

Sometimes that happens to me when I begin a work out for the first time after a long time of not working out. What I do is quit and go lay down, and don't finish it for the night. It's too hard for you at the moment. Start something easier.0
