Should I do a Cleanse?

I am thinking of doing a cleanse this weekend... just like a 2 day one. I've treated my body like crap for so long I just thought it might be a healthy way to restart things. Plus, I won't lie, I was hoping on losing a few more pounds before month end. Since I am really overweight I am hoping for a 15 pound weight loss my first month and I am at 10 down but the scale hasn't moved in 5 days.

So my question is, should I do one? And which cleanses do people recommend?

I have yet to meet a doctor or nutritionist that thinks cleanses are a good idea.

I cleanse by showering daily - my family finds it very helpful!

Sorry, couldn't help myself. I also question whether it's of value, I'll keep watching this thread for other opinion, thanks for posing the question.

No. I've read that if you've binged, then a fast is the best way to "reset" things. But clenses are never a good idea for the vast majority people.

No way. Stop with the quick fixes. Just eat right and exercise right and recover right.

I recommend you clean up your diet. Lean meats, eggs, beans, nuts, fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, dairy. If you stick primarily to these things your body will keep its own innards clean.

And stop setting unrealistic weight goals. It is because we are obese that we get to average -2lbs. a week. Your wishing for an extra 5-6 pounds doesn't make it so.

Truth be told, there is one cleanse I use constantly:

    3T Olive Oil
    Juice of 2 lemons
    6 cloves of garlic, crushed
    1t Honey

Note, I don't drink that crap. I marinate chicken in it. It's also lovely as a dressing on any steamed veg (minus the honey)

I drink the master cleanse or lemon diet. I drink it along with my other foods so not really a cleanse. It was recommended to me by a nutritionist to help prevent kidney stones. Something I have suffered from. So far it has worked great at preventing them.

Acults its the lemons. Lemons are a good source of citrate and can be used to increase the citrate concentration in the urine in order to prevent kidney stones.
