Bodyrockers - Ugi ball replacement???
Replies
-
I have just bought a soft medicine ball on amazon - just searched for "soft medicine ball" in sport and leisure.
Also sold on ebay
45cm so similar in size to the Ugi ball and a choice of weights.
Good luck!

RE: sandbags... cheaper version available (at least to US residents):

And, would this work for the UGI ball? If so, I'll order one as I'm really jonesing for a UGI but can't rationalize the price....

I should have another review up hopefully by the weekend comparing the Ugi medicine ball with the Dynamax medicine ball. Both are great products. I just got the Dynamax ball in yesterday and I must say it is really top notch.0
-
Just put up a video review of the Dynamax Ball vs the Ugi Ball. IMO the Dynamax ball is a true medicine ball, where as the Ugi ball is more of a hybrid. Meaning it's softer and a little bit bigger than a traditional medicine ball. Both balls a good and both companies have good customer support.
Here is the video review

If you're wanting to use the ball to do pushups on and have your feet be on the balls, the Ugi Ball might be a better choice. If you are wanting to do a lot of traditional medicine ball exercises, the Dynamax Ball is pretty sweet.
Either Ball will make a awesome choice though. You are looking to save money the Dynamax Ball wins.0 -
I contacted two other Medicine ball companies that also sell medicine balls that look good. I post another review if they send me out some medicine balls for reviews.

I ordered a sandbag off Amazon - think it was a SKLZ . It was only about $45. Yes, it came with empty, fillable, bags, but a trip to Lowes got me a 50# bag of sand for around $3. The handles are really strong, as is the overall construction of the bag. Oh yeah - free super saver shipping too!

If anyone is interested on a cheaper version for a dip station there are tons of DIY videos on youtube0

I just put up a video where I show the Dynamax Ball, Rage Ball and the Ugi Ball. Hopefully this will be helpful for those who are looking to purchase a medicine ball.

THere is a chick named Chelsea who does "real time" bodyrock workouts on video and puts them on youtube. She uses a 20 lb dumbbell for some of the Ugi stuff.0
-
She posts tutorials now that show alternatives to using equipment, also easier moves for beginners. Totally worth it. I don't have any of the equipment. And if you need an interval timer, there is a free one for iphones that Gymboss makes. It works well.0

Here are 6 medicine ball exercises that I do. Do yo have any cool ones?

I bought the dip station with the handle straps...The dip station could be made for virtually nothing, but the handles are fantastic..I use them on my pullup bar..In the doorway...anywhere i can hook them onto..Brilliant..0 -
I made a medicine ball out of a old basketball and sand. There is a video on youtube on how to do it.0
-
Hopefully this does not start a battle, but the original leader of the bodyrock workouts does ZWOWs now.

Short, high intensity workouts -- she sometimes uses dumbbells and the like but very minimal equipment.0 -
I want a Ugi Ball..but I'm not tryin to pay over $100 for one...I have a sand bag in which I put sand in two trash bag before sealing the sandbag...I used two so I can throw it around and pound it down with it busting...
If anyone knows a site for cheaper Ugi Ball.. I would like to know!!
Btw...Zwow came out with three videos you can buy on amazon!!!0 -

Try a medicine ball. The dimensions are a little smaller but they are way cheaper...here is just one option... http://www.amazon.com/Everlast-Muhammad-Collection-9-Pound-Medicine/dp/B002V36WJC/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1312722212&sr=8-12
med balls work for SOME things- they are a LOT more unstable- I use them for Mountain climbers and push ups and things
A bosu ball is the closest replication really- and even it isn't teh same thing.
For most ugi ball work outs- I supplement with a med ball- the outside thigh touch one? I just use the ground- I don't' bother with any equipment.
just fudge it- use the couch- or a med ball. no worries- no work out police will come yell at you!!!
My absolute favorite 'gut check' workout of theirs is the It Will Rain Sweat one- it's older- Kaley is the girl- she does it with Sean. It's brutal
Ten rounds of 10 exercises- for 10 reps each- 1000 reps. it takes me almost an hour every time. But I love it.0
