Calorie confusion, help please

Hi, I'm 5'3" and trying to lose about 35 pounds. I'm stuck right now at 156. I seem to be pulled in different directions with how many calories I should be eating. I workout every day, (doing Jillian Michael's 30 day shred workouts, averaging 28 minutes, occasionally doing a few dancing games before or afterwards) but other then that I'm sedentary for the most part. Some people tell me I should eat 1200 calories, others 1300, and 1550, too. I just feel like I'm being pulled in different directions. I'm kind of a newbie to this counting calorie thing and I just really would like if I had a solid idea of how much I should be eating for my weight and height to lose this 35 pounds more efficiently Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, have you set up your profile on MFP with height, weight and target loss? This app will take your info and give you a net calorie figure to sum for. Then you record your exercise calories and just eat the calories MFP calculated.
Been doing just that for 120 days, lost 40 lb no listening to "friends" or conflicting advice, just follow the numbers.0 -

I have, MFP has set me up for about 1300. I have told a few people about this and they have said this is the reason I have been stuck at my current weight because I'm not eating enough. Other people tell me to eat less, and I haven't really known any better on which to do, so I'm now making an effort to try and educate myself on this calorie counting business. That way I no longer need to worry about being pulled in different directions.0 -

MFP has my net calorie goal set at 1340. Since I have my profile set to sedentary, and the calorie deficit I need is built into my net calorie goal, I always eat most of my excercise calories back. So if I don't excercise I try to only eat 1340, but if I excercise and burn 200 calories, I get to eat 1540, which gets me to my net calorie goal of 1340 (1540 food - 200 excercise). I have been losing weight doing this. Try eating your excercise calories back and see if it helps.0

I will give that a shot. Thank you0
