I'm sure its been asked...weight loss with C25k???

I did about 3 weeks of couch 25k last year and stopped... I need to find something I can stick with and i remember liking this program pretty well. What I want to know is ... has anyone used C25k along with counting calories and had success with weight loss?

I did the C25k program and completed it the end of December. I'm running regularly now and have my first 5k on the 9th. I haven't lost any weight as I haven't stuck to my counting calories. But I know if I did the combination of regular runs and keeping my calorie intake to under 1400, I would be losing. Good luck.

Weight loss happens in the kitchen, fitness happens in the gym. Don't try to count on exercise to lose weight. Watch your food intake and create your deficit there.

I am only on week 2 of the C25K program but I have already noticed changes that have me very excited! I was averaging about a pound a week after the first big loss when I started but last week I lost 3 pounds and the only difference in my routine was C25K. So I am very hopeful that this program will help accelerate my weight loss. Good luck on your journey!

I'm starting it today. I tried to start it during the fall, but I had a medical issue that made running painful, then my entire family got sick, and then it got cold. Now though, everyone is healthy and the weather is warming up so no more excuses!

Yep, I did C25K 4 years ago and lost 60lbs. But I was definitely tracking my food as well as exercising. You need both, for sure. I found I stopped losing when I starting increasing the distance (trained for a 10K). It becomes very complicated (to me anyway) ensuring the proper nutrition/calories for running longer distance, but still allowing for weight loss. Then there was a health crisis and i stopped running altogether. Now I'm back running again, but have decided I will not increase distance past 5K until the weight loss is complete.

Good luck. It is a great program to use along with healthy eating to help you reach your goals.

I began the C25K program when I was about 12 pounds above my original GW and easily lost that weight plus an additional 12 pounds before going on maintenance. For the first several weeks my progress was more erratic than I used to seeing, I think because of exercise related water retention due to the switch from low impact cardio (elliptical machine) to high impact. The rate of loss over time didn't really change, though, and the data smoothed out again after week 5. I still enjoy running and do it 3 or 4 times a week.

I would love to eventually be able to run a 5k, but my ultimate goal is to lose the weight I've packed on and stay near my goal (idea) weight for good.

I'm doing C25K in conjunction with 30DS as well. One focuses more on endurance and slow paced cardio while the other focuses on strength and quick bursts of cardio. I think they both have their place. Just slow down if you start having trouble keeping up.

I believe it helps. I lost 3 pounds when I started it. Completed week three (twice)carrying an injury now I have had to take a break but I noticed a change. However I have picked up the pace diet wise and exercise wise so couldnt pin it all down to C25k

I think its a combination of the running and eating. I started C25K a few days after I started tracking and exercising. I just completed the program last week and I only repeated 1 week so it roughly took me 10 weeks to lose 24 pounds. Now even on my rest days I was in the gym going elliptical and other cardio and also strength training.

I'm on week 6 of C25K. I was losing weight before and am still losing. The thing I have noticed since starting C25k is my energy level has gone up a lot.
