I have a squat rack/suspension trainer, but this looks so much more stable. This is my DIY project for this spring.

looks like you've got more than we do!
We have a power cage, olympic bar and plates, adjustable bench with leg extension/curl and preacher curl attachment, hyperextension bench, pull-up/dip/roman-chair station, EZ bar, adjustable dumbbells.

A few months back we added a band system that helps expand the accessory work we can do.
Wish I had more insight, but I'm interested to see what others suggest. But I don't feel like I miss out on much have a variety of plates and a cage :P

Believe it or not I could get a better workout with a minimal set, than by someone who works out at a gym and doesn't know how to lift, doesn't confuse muscles, doesn't superset, doesn't work complimentary muscle groups in the same workout. As long as you know how to lift and hit your muscles where it hurts (BTW if you don't hurt the next day you didn't really work out).

Ive seen your pictures you are eating weights, I think you are doing fine LOL

    LOL! Thanks :)
I guess after seeing your set-up, I'm not sure what else you need! My workouts are all based around squats, deadlifts, bench and OHP. I used to go to a commercial gym and used machines, now I feel no need.
Oh! Favorite way I used a piece of broken equipment... our old bar, one of the collars came off and the thredding was stripped so it wouldn't stay on We wound up buying a new (and amazing!) one but kept the old. I now use it for T-bar rows! Stays in place better without hte other collar, and I dont worry about messing it :)

WHat do you feel like is lacking from your gym/routine or are you just trying to get ideas??

I have a homemade pullup bar in the basement. My husband got a 1 1/4" steel pipe and a couple flanges, drilled holes into some scrap wood we already had and then bolted it onto the rafters. Much cheaper than the over-the-door ones.

I was on the rowing team in college. We didn't have a lot of money to spend on winter training equipment, or access to the fitness center gym during our practice times. We made barbells out of paint cans, cement and steel pipes. They ranged in weight from 30 to 45 lbs, depending on the amount of cement.

My husband wants to find a leg press machine as well. He's hoping to find a reasonalbe priced used one on CL. With his knees he hoping that would give him a way to do more heavy weight that he just can't handle any more on squats.

You should look into gyms that are getting new equipment (just walk in and ask). They often will sell you used equipment that they are getting rid of for pennies on the dollar.

I lift at home, I have dumbbells and I've borrowed a barbell, I'm planning on buying my own barbell and a squat rack and/or power cage (preferably the latter if it's not too expensive)

There are a lot of bodyweight exercises, look on you tube for ways to make them progressively more difficult. These can fill in the gaps when you don't have enough equipment.

sweet, good ideas. My door-frame in the basement is too wide for most pull-up bars & i can't afford a weight set

I'm stealing these. They look super simple to make. I think I even have some concrete mix from another project.
