Put down the badger! (What is your fat loss target to you?)

To hell with bags of sugar.

Someone told me this and it stuck with me:

Visualise the excess weight as a real thing. For example, I have a stone and a half to lose - that's about the same as a badger. Why would I carry around a badger with me all of the time? It has better things to do, put it down and let it go snuffling off into the undergrowth.

Now when I'm trying to motivate myself to go to the gym, I tell myself to drop the badger!

Does anyone else do things like this?

LOL. I LOVE the badger idea. Hilarious.

...Personally, I'm looking to shed Harry Styles.

My total weight loss goal is an elephant penis. I think I may get some really funny looks if I walk into the gym saying to myself "Put down the elephant penis"

Admittedly, I've already shed a lot of that, so now my remaining goal is equal to an average two year old. Saying to myself "Put down the toddler" doesn't really sound much better than elephant penis, however.

I hadn't thought of mixing and matching. Awesome. That means so far I've lost a guinea pig in a microwave.

I had seen the mfp list, but can't relate to many of the items. I don't generally carry around an elephant penis or a bald eagle, for example. Now, a badger does make me laugh, if only for the visual of someone trying to carry an actual badger... Not much pet potential there!

I do, however, visualize my goal in a similar way. In the winter, when the water lines to the pasture are frozen, I carry water to our alpacas in 5 gallon buckets. Conveniently, my short-term goal is 40 pounds: a bucket of water! By the end of classes in June, I hope to be down a bale of hay (ours run about 54 pounds). At that point, if things run as they did way back when when I wasn't so overweight, in order to reduce body fat percentage I'll actually need to gain weight, so I'll re-evaluate and form new goals then.

I need to lose a small bale of hay ... but so far, I've only lost a human head.

I was wondering why my neck was looking so bare!
  • I'm carrying around an irish setter with an average sized newborn on his back all the time...no point in all that extra weight.
