Types of people you see on the MFP forums
The newbie:
"How many times a day should I weigh myself? Why do I weigh more at the end of the day?!"
"What is there to eat that's healthy besides baked chicken and veggies? I'm bored of this!!!"
"What does TDEE and BMR mean? I'm so confused, help "
"I saw this new detox diet, should I try it??"
The elitist:
"If you're not willing to buy flax seed and make your own energy bars, you're not committed enough."
"Oh, you're drinking Diet Coke instead of regular soda? Hope you enjoy your teeth before you destroy them."
"If you saw something on TV or endorsed by Dr. Oz and believe it even for a second, you are a neanderthal who knows nothing about proper nutrition. Listen to me and what I say because my word is 100% fact."
The opinionated:
"It's okay to be fat."
"It's not okay to be fat."
"You MUST do strength training and you must do it this way."
"Everyone has their own way of doing things, including me, so don't you dare criticize what I do!"
"Clean eating is the ONLY way to go."
"Clean eating is NEVER the way to go."
The attention wh0res:
"Would you go out with me based on looking at my profile picture and knowing absolutely nothing about me? "
"I haven't lost weight in the last two days! Shower me with affection and kind words "
"I'm going to reply to EVERY PERSON who commented on this thread even though I don't even give a crap what the OP said."
The jokesters:
"Instead of contributing anything worthwhile to this discussion, I will instead create a parody thread mirroring what the OP said and spend all day clicking "Refresh" and watching the drama unfold."
"I'm going to lurk this thread until it reaches 10 pages in length, then spam a whole bunch of unrelated gifs and pics. Genius."
"You know what this thread needs? A mentioning of bacon. And shenanigans."
And last but not least, the trolls:
"I'm going to post a picture of myself at my current weight, and if people say ANYTHING that isn't nice, I'll report them immediately!"
"I'm going to trawl through dozens of posts, find anyone who uses incorrect spelling or grammar, and use it to belittle them and make them feel stupid so that they never want to post here again."
"People on here need thicker skin! You know, like in the good old days of MFP, where we could insult each other jovially and no one got offended at all ever. If you post something on the forums you can't expect positive feedback! THIS IS THE INTERNET!"

Just in case someone gets confused, this post isn't actually meant to be inflammatory. :P I myself have been in more than one of these categories!0

I am 100% opinionated! Grr arg!0

Oh, who are the people in your neighborhood?
In your neighborhood?
In your neighborhood?
Say, who are the people in your neighborhood?
The people that you meet each day0 -
I think im in Fringe Division.0

Don't forget the kind, the helpful, the supportive and the sympathetic. There are lots of these, they're just a little quieter.0

So true!! -- love this funny list.
but you know there's only two kinds of people in this world.
Those who categorize people.
And those who don't.0 -
Which one are you?0

Just break up0 -
About a year and a half ago there was an *Insult the user above you* that was all in good fun, it rolled over a time or two also.
It wouldn't be possible to have a thread like that today.0 -
I think "the hangry" is a more fitting title for the last category than "trolls." Trolling implies an intent to disrupt, whereas the last category is just sorta moody and adversarial.0
-
I could fall into a few of those categories but mostly I'm just a ****.0
-
What about the ones who make OPs complaining about everyone else?0
-

The kind, sympathetic, supportive people stay off the forums, unfortunately. Because they are overrun with people who say whatever crosses their mind. No one wants to deal with that. I used to post on here ALL the time and now? Now every time I post anything I'm met with an inbox of "I know better..." messages. People need to chill out.0 -
I like to see myself as a pavement special0

Really? I've made a few posts here...I very rarely get any kind of PM that isn't from a friend. Maybe you really do post stuff that is arguable...just a guess. I don't think I've ever gotten a PM like the one you are describing. Curious.0 -

^^ Same here. The only PMs I've gotten from people that aren't friends have been to ask me questions follow up questions or to clarify something I posted. I love the MFP forums!0 -
You missed the lurkers!0

^^^THIS^^^ We seem to have a national obsession with criticizing and telling people off. Wouldn't it be better to be "kind, helpful, supportive and sympathetic"?0 -
