Hi, I have achilles tendons problem at the back of my heels for the last 3 years. I have done physiotherapy, massages, acupuncture, cold therapy etc. It has recovered to 75% by acupunture treatment but as soon as I start long walks or jog the pain comes back. I want to do little bit jogging but the pain stops me every time. Any suggestions?

Does anyone has good advice about how to make the full recovery and start some exercise or jogging? I will appreciate that.

    Umer,

I have also been struggling with achilles tendonitis for the past 10 months. # months into it my foot surgeon xrayd the foot and found that I have a bone spur which is right at the insertion point on the foot. According to the xray and his opinion the only way to resolve it is surgery (cut the tendon) remove the spur and reattach the tendon to the foot (calcaneus). This will also require immobilizing 2-3 weeks off work and a boot and crutches for the next 3 months.

Long and short of it is I am making great progress with diet and exercise doing low impact cardio (elliptical and stationary bike). It still gets sore during a long go on the ellitical but I am able to work through it. One big thing that my doc did was get me fitted for a ankle brace made by a company called "Bledsoe". It provides good ankle support and only allows your foot to move up and down but not side to side. This seems to help alot.

I was on Celebrex as well which seemed to reduce inflammation but is not recommended to use continously due to the risk of blood clotting. I recently had a surgery and dont need that risk:) Good luck with it and if you can find a foot surgeon or help fitting with a brace and maybe get a few xrays to know what you are dealing with.

I have tendonitis too. It comes and goes, has been like this for years. I also have flat feet so have orthotics and heel raises. I also have to use shoes that unfortunately look nothing like the latest trend another words they are fugly.

Tendonitis usually comes on when I over do things like jogging or pick up the pace doing anything cardio. Im pretty certain this has to do with my weight. Doing all I can to improve the strain im placing on my lower legs cause like you, I have tried everything.
