Hi Guys,

Can someone suggest me a HRM for elliptical trainer? I was thinking about Polar FT4 (cheap) and also Suunto Quest Run Pack.

Thanks,

A Polar FT4 is a great HRM. It's good for any cardio type exercise.

polar is great. I have an FT60.
Probably didn't need to upgrade that much and an FT7 would have been good.

OK, I bought FT4. Now my problem is my HRM says I burn 428 Clas for 31 mins, while my elliptical trainer says I did 350. Which is true. My avg heart rate was 155 BPM for 31 mins and I am a (Male,29yrs,171cm).

I tend to go with my HRM mine has a chest strap and is actually monitoring my heart rate :)

Thanks. My one also has the strap and this one had a very good review (FT4). One of my client who runs a Sports Equip store sold hundreds of FT4. You know it is not a problem if it reads less than the machine, but you will doubt if it is more !!. that's what happened to me.

usually a HRM takes more details than the machine about the persons stats. height, weight, age etc.

most machines only take weight if they take anything at all.

I think too that sometimes the machines get overused aswell its a bit like changing your battery in a scale or turning the setting back to zero. Sometimes the machines at the gym need a good tune up.

Enjoy your HRM! Like me, you will wish you had bought one a long time ago :)
