Smoothie Recipes ? :)

Does anyone make their own homemade smoothies? I would love some ideas for healthy low cal smoothie recipes to have as snack/breakfast or maybe dessert for after dinner :) Thanks for any ideas/feedback! :flowerforyou:

Here are some that I like:

Blend the following before adding the ingredients at the end:

    3 frozen strawberries
    1/4 frozen mango
    3 raspberries
    1/4 cup of orange juice
    Blend

    Or

    4-5 frozen strawberries
    1/4 low fat milk
    Blend

    Or

    1/2 or small frozen banana
    1/2 frozen mango
    1/4 cup apple juice
    Blend

Then to one of the above add 1/4 non fat high protein plain greek yogurt and a tad of honey. Blend again. We use frozen fruit so that the smoothie comes out cold from the start.
  • I make fruit smoothies for my family daily. It's the only way my kids and husband will eat fruit. To make about 4 6oz servings I use:
    1 banana
    2 slices canned pineapple
about 1 cup frozen blueberries (I don't measure these so that's an estimate)
about 1 cup frozen strawberries (I don't measure these either)
    2 ice cubes
enough orange juice to just barely cover the other ingredients already in the blender
Blend it all up and that's it.
It's super tasty. You can also "hide" other stuff in there, like flaxseeds or calcium powder - whatever will blend nicely and not change the taste too much. I tried adding yogurt but my picky family noticed, so that didn't work. Be creative and you can come up with lots of different fruits to add or substitute. I always keep the banana though - it provides a nice smooth base to work with.

I have a dairy allergy, so I have to think outside the box a bit more for smoothie recipes, but I drink a smoothie for breakfast every day. Since it is an entire meal, I aim for it to have about 300-400 calories, but you could take that down with a few adjustments.

My breakfast smoothie is made with one container of soy-based non-dairy yogurt (140 calories per pack, so you could lose about 50 calories by switching to a dairy-based low-cal yogurt, like Light n Fit), one fresh banana, one cup of frozen no-sugar-added fruit (I like a blackberry, blueberry, strawberry, raspberry blend), and one cup of unsweetened vanilla almond milk (45 calories per serving). The end result is about 10g fat and 360 calories. Depending on the yogurt and milk you use, this smoothie could have a ton of sugar or not too much, so choose carefully :)

I recently started making smoothies & here's what I've found:

Frozen spinach to get veggies in the day
Frozen fruit: cherries are best, strawberries second, and then stay away from too many seeds
Yogurt: greek or whatever you want
    Milk: 1/3 c. almond
    Chia/Flaxseed mix

occasionally I'll add: frozen sliced banana, or regular banana or apple but I find that I don't like the texture that comes with the apple

    happy blending =)

I love frozen sliced banana, a little greek yogurt, some cocoa powder, and your sweetner of choice. You can also add protein powder if you want. This tastes like a chocolate banana milkshake to me!

This morning I had 1/2 cup sliced frozen banana, 3 oz greek yogurt, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder, and 2 tbsps PB2 (powdered peanut butter) - then I added two big handfulls of spinach. Looks weird, tastes like a peanut butter cookie and made a huge smoothie. The protein powder made it a little sweet for my taste, but it was very good and filling.

My daughter's favorite is frozen banana, frozen blueberries, milk, and greek yogurt.

You can also add a little bit of egg whites to any smoothie, just for some extra protein! Also makes it nice and 'fluffy', lol.

I have a Vitamix and it will blend frozen fruit so if you don't have a machine that can handle it you may have to adjust...
2 cups frozen mango chunks, 2 cups frozen peaches, 1 1/2 frozen bananas, 3 cups skim milk... 3 smoothies 240 calories each...
3 cups frozen strawberries, 1 cup frozen pineapple, 1 1/2 frozen bananas, 3 cups skim milk... 3 smoothies 240 calories each...
    These are huge smoothies!

No reason to just stick with Fruits! You should try adding some veggies in as well.
here are some of the ones I have used... Kale, Spinach, Tomatoes, Parsley, Cucumbers, Carrots, Pineapple, Oranges, Apples, Beets (these make your juice a wonderful color), Frozen Fruit pieces (keep the drink cold and add just a touch of sweetness)...

My go to smoothie every morning for the past couple of months is:

    1 cup of spinach
    1 cup of kale
    1/2 cup of frozen raspberries
    1/2 cup of frozen blueberries
1 scoop of banana flavored whey protein powder
1 tbsp of chia or whole flax seeds
15 ml of coconut oil (if I need to uptick my good fats)
    Water to fill line

    After workout smoothie usually is:

    1 cup of frozen strawberries
1 scoop of banana or vanilla bean whey protein powder
8 oz of low fat Greek yogurt (plain)
Almond milk or water to fill line

I have one of those Nutribullet machines and it has been great. Possibilities are almost endless.
  • My Green Monster shakes are, Ice, 1 banana, 1 to 2 cups Spinach, 1/2 to 1 c Almond Milk, 1 tbs Chia or flax seeds, Chocolate Profit protein blend, & P2B (powdered peanut butter), or Vanilla Profit and any fruit to make it fruity!

I love making smoothies but I usually make a green one every morning. I use 1 cup of (any green, kale, spinach, collards etc..), 1 cup of any frozen fruit, 1/2 raw orange juice, 1/2 banana and either one of the following; almonds, chia seeds, flax seeds or hemp seeds. I blend in the nutribullet.

How about an AMAZING and TOTALLY YUMMY green smoothie?

    10 oz. water
    1/2 c. frozen pineapple
    1/2 frozen banana
    1/2 fresh orange
    1 1/2 handfuls fresh spinach
    1/4-1/2 c. parsley (stems removed)
    2-3 fresh basil leaves
    160 calories

You can add protein to this, if you'd like. I usually add 1 raw (yes, raw) egg and 1/2 scoop Sun Warrior Warrior Blend (plain) protein powder.
  • I got a smoothie recipe on Pinterest and tweaked it a little...I make one for either bfast or lunch 2 or 3 times per week and it keeps me full until the next meal. Not the lowest calorie smoothie but packed w/ essentials! :)

    1 small banana
    3 frozen strawberries
1/2 cup light & fit vanilla yogurt
1 TBSP all natural peanut butter
1/3 Cup oatmeal (quick oats, dry)
    1/4 Cup skim milk.
    4 ice cubes.
  • 1 banana
    1 cup frozen blueberries
1/2-1 cup coconut milk (depends on the thickness you like) or you could use skim milk
    1 cup fresh spinach
1 tb flaxseed (don't need it but I like it)
1 avacado (if you have the calories for it, it makes it nice and thick and smooth)
(things to add to mix it up, orange juice, apple, strawberries, or any kind of fruit you like but this is the one I make the most)

When I first started I'd add sugar to it b/c it seemed so bland for about 2 months and now I can't stand sugar in it so if you are just starting out and it doesn't taste very good try adding some sugar.
