I was considering buying a new workout video to change things up and maybe i can find the time to do it after kids are in bed! lol (worth a try!)
anyway, I know there are several new ones out there--- yoga booty ballet, the firm, that jillian micheals tape, etc.
Which ones are your favorites and that you feel you really get a good workout from?!
Thanks for all of your help! My gym membership is up next month and I'm wondering if i should renew my contract or not. maybe if i can find some good videos that i enjoy doing and don't get burnt out on i won't need the membership!
Thank you all!! :flowerforyou:

Oh come on Ty, You don't want to do the yoga booty ballet?? LOL :laugh:0 -
I haven't heard of the biggest loser one! Can you get it at the store or do you have to order it online?0

I agree about Biggest Loser Cardio and I like their Sculpt one as well. Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred is excellent as well! They truly are different than the others I have used and they really challenge you!0
-
I do a video every day. My favorites are Biggest Loser Cardio Max and Power Sculpt and I just started with Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred. I also had great success with Hip Hop Abs Total Body Burn and Fat Burning Cardio.0

I prefer the gym. It's much more motivating for me to workout with other people. I'm not sure if I'd stick with my exercise if I used videos.0

Hmm what exactly is that??? lol0 -
if you have an xbox or a play station, i recomend Yourself fitness. it is an interactive personal trainer. i know it is hard to find in stores but i have seen it on amazon.0

I love any of the Jillian Michaels Tapes! I am very picky with workouts but hers I have been able to stick to. They're all about 20 minutes and you can fit them in to any schedule. Plus, she has you going so quick, the workout just flies by. If you have Comcast, she has some OnDemand in the Exercise TV area to watch for free... That's how I got hooked!0
-
hmm, sounds like everyone likes the jillian michaels tapes!! I will have to check into them!0

I really like my wedding workout DVD. I found it because I am trying to lose weight for my friends wedding and I guess whatever site I was on pointed me toward this. It does have wedding theme stuff, like a strapless dress workout (upper body) and clingy dress workout (lower body and abs) and there are a few cheesy lines like when doing jabs they exclaim, show us that engagement ring! But if you can deal with some sillyness, you defintely don't have to be planning for a wedding to enjoy it.
The big thing I hate about exercise tapes is the monotony (sp?). I hate watching the same people make the same jokes and say the same things time after time. I am quite sure they use the same three people, but I like that there are basically 12 different workouts you can do since there is a differnt work out Monday through Saturday for each type of workout (the "strapless dress and clingy dress mentioned above). There is also an option to customize your workout so if you want to do double the cardio rather than one cardio session and one ab session, you can! I beleive the DVD is by Women's Health, but googling womens health or wedding workout or something like that should get you there, and I think it was pretty cheap too. Good luck!0 -

And I'm the exact opposite. I like wearing what I want and working out alone right here at home. No one watching-doing my own thing when I want & in my own shower five minutes later. Much cheaper too. Wouldn't have it any other way.0 -
I like the gym but if you don't go really early in the morning or really late at night its always packed in there.
I don't like going when there alot of people there because these guys go in groups of 3 or 4 to work out and half the time they stand around checking everyone out or walking by every so often looking at you. lol No offense or anything guys! lol
I don't mind being checked out just not when i'm all hot and sweaty!! LOL :laugh:0 -

Nope you can buy it in stores. I know I've seen it in Best Buy and it was only $9.99. I think you'll really like it. but be prepared to be sore after you try it the first time!! :laugh:0 -
TAE-BO Get Ripped Advanced Series!
It is the only video workout that I have found to be comparable with gym classes. If you want to start slower, you can always try the Get Ripped Beginner tapes.
I am dripping sweat when I am finished with this work out, and I love Billy Blanks. He motivates you the whole time. Sort of cheesy, but mostly inspirational. Sometimes you just need that extra push, you know.0 -
get the DVd's any one that piques you intrigue will work, but by all means do renew the gym. Mine went down after a year(my rate) and furthermore if you KNOW you are spending money you will NOT want it to go to waste and will keep up the working out...0

I agree with americanwolfdreamer about the gym. You can totally renegotiate once your contract expires. Also (and maybe this doesn't apply to all of you with central air conditioning) my apartment gets really hot in the summer. Way too hot to work out in. I like going to the YMCA where the air conditioning is included in my montly membership fee!0 -
Workout - One on One Training with Jackie
Seriously the best video ever. I'm not one for jazzercise type videos and this one is sooo NOT that. It is a mix of cardio and strength training.
It is broken up into 3, 20 minute segments: Lower Body, Upper Body and Core.
I am pretty serious about exercising and I love this video because you FEEL it the next day. The other good thing is nothing is super complicated and for most exercises there is a beginner, intermediate and super tough variation. I feel it is the kind of video that as your fitness level improves you will be able to use the video in more difficult ways. This isn't the kind of video that you plateau at.
It is designed to help strengthen, tone, firm and lose weight overall.
I love the show Workout, and I really feel that I am getting one on one training with Jackie Warner!
Sorry for sounding like an infomercial but I have used it 3-4 times a week for two weeks and am amazed with how much progress I have made!0 -
The firm is wonderful and so is Jari Love get ripped 1000 I do tapes at home and love it. When you have kids popping a tape in whenever is great

I am SUCH a fan of Turbo Jam!!! Seriously, check out this link.

I have had so much fun doing it, Chalene-the instructor-is energetic and very motivating. It's a combo of kickboxing and cool music. I've lost 1 1/2" off my waist and hips and 1/2" from each thigh after about 1 month. I'm still plugging away--I would recommend it to anyone!0 -
I just found out tonight that On Demand has all kinds of workout videos. they have the biggest loser, carmen electra--strip tease!! oh yeah! I'm doing that one tomorrow.... LOL
I'm so excited they have this, I can try them out and see which ones i like before i buy them!

Yah, they pretty much have something for everyone on OnDemand. I have done quite a few of the videos. My only problem is that I loooove cardio, and it's hard to find one that runs longer then 20 min. or so. But there's a lot to choose from.0 -
How do you know how many calories you're burning though? I love the Bigest Loser Season 1 DVD and Turbo Jam but I'm never sure how to enter them on my log. Any suggestions?0

I guess the only way to know how many calories you are burning is to have a HRM (which i don't have and I really want one!)0 -

I have several of the TJ videos. During the 50 min workouts-depending on how hard I push-I burn between 560 and 640 calories according to my HRM. Really, it's the only way to determine accurate calories burned. It depends on your weight, your maximum heartrate, etc. I would really recommend the investment. My husband was guess-timating that when we went jogging together he was burning about 100 calories more than me....he was happily surprised after getting a HRM that he was actually burning TRIPLE the calories I was. Imagine...I burned 400 and he burned 1200. NOT fair!! :mad:0 -
I love workout videos. I am very busy, but I always find time to fit these in. If any of y'all have Comcast check out the Sports and Fitness Tab under ON Demand, then select Exercise T.V. There are tons of free workout videos on there. Anything from Abs to Cardio.
