I regularly have my supper right after a workout. I don't think it hurts anything - hasn't done me any harm.

If you're hungry, then eat. If you're not, at least drink some water to rehydrate. I'd assume that's a given, but sometimes it doesn't hurt to reenforce what everyone should know. =)

different opinions exist on this issue... so you're gonna have to figure it out for yourself and whatever gets you better results is what you should do. (even though odds are you'll get better results by eating a recovery meal of some kind)

I found I had better results when I eat soon after a workout. Even if it's a snack like an egg or nuts - whatever.
I also find that having a snack pre-workout 1-1.5 hours before helps too.

Whatever makes you feel good :)

I eat my dinner after my workout, but not for a little while after because exercising makes me not hungry.

Studies have time and time against shown that it doesn't matter what time you put food in your belly. If you are hungry, eat. I won't eat for the last hour before bed, but only because I can't sleep on a totally full stomach. It's pure personal choice.

And another. If you are eating every 4 hours or so your bodyis getting enough nutrients to recover. The rest is all driven by personal preference. There is no short, critical anabolic window.

Eat whenever you feel like it. I can't eat before I workout or I'd be throwing up all over the gym... Afterwards, as in a hour or so, I'm hungry anyway, so that's when I eat.
    Do what works for you!

Eating after is best, your metabolism is running pretty good at that time!

Caveat: unless you have just done a glycogen depleting workout, then you should be eating again before doing another one.

Nothing wrong with this practice. Do you enjoy it? Keep doing it.

Should i start eating before my workouts?

I would base this decision primarily around performance metrics and personal preference. Choose whichever method gives you the best of both.

my trainer says that you should have a high protein food within 1.5 hours of your workout. They have that protein stuff or you can have a light meal.

Not sure what this means or how it is relevant. What would happen to the nutrients that are either in you system or stored? is there some reason they would not get utilized? The whole, eating right after a workout thing always seems to have the assumption of fasted training built in but unspoken. But there are nutrients in our system when we work out if we've eaten within a few hours prior that get utilized just fine.
  • Yes its ok to eat after you're done with the gym.

Yes. Eat whenever it works for you. I eat as early or as late as I want, always after 9pm. Sometimes as late as 10 or 11. It doesn't matter what time you eat.
  • You should have smoething to eat before you workout to fuel your workout and you should have some protein with in 30 minutes after your workout.
