I WANNA BUY A HRM WHATS GOOD 4 KICKBOXING(FITBIT) ?

I WAS WONDERING IF FITBIT IS GOOD TO USE FOR KEEPING TRACK OF WORKOUT CLASSES. I NOTICED MOST PEOPLE TALK ABOUT IT KEEPIKNG TRACK OF CALS BURNED THROUGHOUT THE DAY????? IS IT GOOD FOR BOTH CAN YOU START FOR ALL DAY PROGRESS AND HAVE IT KEEP TRACK FOR THE CARDIO CLASSES I DO THEN START AGAIN FOR DAILY RECORDINGS AGAIN AFTER ????

I have a fitbit and a hrm. I use the fitbit to keep track how many steps, etc. I have done for the day and I love it! However, I use my hrm for my "intentional burns" . It is more accurate in my cals burned, IMO. The fitbit will misread the jumping, moving side-to-side and wont give an accurate reading. Plus, it doesn't record your heart rate. I love both of mine! Good luck! Hope this helps!

Look into the Amiigo. It sounds really promising..combines an HRM with a Fitbit like feature...If it works as promised..It will replace both my fitbit and HRM..

But just like braves said..I use both. I put the Fitbit in a "start" stop mode..and turn on my HRM..to get an accurate count when I am doing something intentional..like Spin class

I would find a fitbit pretty useless for any form of cardio work sits its mostly a pedometer for counting steps and not a HRM.
it calculates your cal's burned with a guestimate of your weight and height.

its pretty good at tracking you walking around, but when serious excercise is concerned I would go for a heartrate monitor. (as it wont track a excercise bike properly and has no idea of what setting any cardio machines are set to. so if you hop on a step machine it will give you a higher reading when you are going medium pace at a low tension than you would get if you were going at a slightly lesser pace with maximum tension)

you would want to take it off prior to doing any work that you want to track with a hrm and then put it back on afterwards.

I have a scorche HRM thats pretty good but it needs to be in constant contact with my iphone though. and even though it's advertised as being able to talk to MFP i havn't figured out how to do so.

Personally I dont use a fitbit because I think it would give me a false sense of achivement and posibally demotivate me from going to the gym since I may make the excuse that I have already burned xxx calories already in the day as opposed to seeing a big fat "0" in my excercise column.

HOW DO YOU AVOID GETTING PUNCHED OR KICKED IN THE CHEST STRAP OF A HRM? AND WITH GLOVES ON WHERE DO YOU PUT THE WATCH?

I do a lot of martial arts, (my wife has a polar watch) the watch would fit quite comfortably under your gloves, as for being punched or kicked, thats really a non issue since the 'hard' part of it is dead center in the middle of your chest (well under where a womans boobs would be) so thats one of the most protected parts of your body if you are in kumai so you would have to really be not paying attention, have your guard down and have your opponent go for that position (and with your guard down your face is a much more attractive target)

in my years of training i have never been kicked or punched square in the chest.
