When to Maintain?

Hi there! Just a question about what the ideal weight should be. When I look at weight charts, they just show weight ranges for small, medium, large, frames, and the ranges are kind of wide. I think I'm almost ready for maintenance, but after losing each pound I feel like I'm in competition with myself.....I see that success and then I think I want to lose a few more, and then a few more, so I have been reluctant to change my goals to maintenance.......I think the view of reality and thinness keeps changing as I go.
Does anyone know of a good source for what a good weight for your height should really be and when someone should stop losing?
Thanks!!

Someone posted this site in another forum post a while ago to be helpful in finding your "happy weight": http://www.self.com/calculatorsprograms/calculators/happyweight
Here's a frame calculator in case you need it (needed for the above calculator): http://www.dietandfitnesstoday.com/bodyFrame.php
Hope this helps!0 -
You could try changing your goal to a body fat % instead of a goal weight. You can weigh the same but with different proportions of muscle and fat look MUCH different.0

I have had the same problem of knowing when to stop. I used this calculator and input my height as 52 feet (OOPS!) LMAO It said my happy weight would be 13,780 LOL good to know. Awesome calculator thanks!0 -
go to tools and click on BMI calculator and see what MFP says....0

Happy news!
My "happy weight" is only 1.5 pounds away!
It's funny, and interesting -- the same weight as in my 20s and 30s, single girl in NYC, running around a lot, doing lots of yoga and spinning and didn't think about eating at all, just exercised consistently.
Thrilled that I'm nearly there, at age 43, cancer survivor, mother of 2, homing in on my single-girl weight. Thanks for sharing the 'happy weight" calculator and making my night so, well, happy with this good news!0 -
Call/see your doctor or obgyn. They have direct and personal knowledge of your body frame, weight gain/loss over time, physical health and have access to all the charts. They'll be able to say "hey, you're fine where you are" or "if you lost a few more it'd be fine but don't go lower than XXX". I found my obgyn was best to talk to over my family physician but you know your doctors.0

The calculators are ones I hadn't seen before---thank you so much--it looks like there are quite a few tools there to play around with. I like the happy weight especially--it told me that I reached it 13 lbs ago! probably a trip to the Dr is a good idea too....I appreciate the input!0
