Shopping for things I don't need. So, obviously I'll pay bills and put gas in the car, but no new clothes, and, since it's not necessary, no buying junk food or alcohol.

I like this idea! I was stuck on what to do but Im thinking I may borrow this :flowerforyou:

I won't be eating after 8pm, unless it's a real meal that I missed because the day went long, or if there is a special event with loved ones. This will cut out the mindless bedtime snacking and give my insides a rest! It makes me cranky if I eat before bed, so this will be an improvement in me for sure. :)

good luck with that!!! Not sure I'm strong enough for that one! O_o
  • LOL......love it!
Are people giving up things for Lent because of religious beliefs or just giving things up because it seems to be the thing to do? Just curious.

I am trying to get a good goal! I have always loved Lent to set goals and get positively focused. One year I gave up coffee which was terrible  but otherwise it has always been a great way to follow through on a goal. Help me come up with ideas, just dont take away my wine or coffee!!

What are you giving up for Lent this year?
    ME TOO....OH MY GAWD!!:cry::sad:

I'm giving up booze for lent. In my case that's gin.

It's traditional to donate to charity the money you'd save by giving something up, so someone else benefits from you abstaining.

I'm going to donate mine to my church (the money I've not spent, not the gin!!!)

Who would you donate your money to?

    I love that idea!!

Great idea! I have 2 days to think/meditate on this. I really want to do something that will not be easy for 40 (46) days. Something not easy but will feel a real sense of accomplishment and spiritual commitment when done successfully! Haven't done something like this since I was a kid. When I decide...I'll repost again...hhhmmmm...alcohol, fasting, meat (already trying this-doing well), daily meditation (already trying this-doing well), daily exercise (already trying this-doing well).

SO I need to find something that isn't going to be so easy!

    I still haven't decided yet.
I'm not Catholic but I do see the physical and spiritual benefits of the practice.
Maybe I'll do sodas and something else if I land on something.

I may also set up time and space for prayers and meditations or to at least work on having more body positive thoughts.

Solid food. I'm doing a liquid fast for the next 40 with the exception of 1 day - my sister's birthday - I'm taking her to brunch. It came at a good time. I go through phases when I really dont want to eat anything and the act of eating really bothers me and I'm in that mindset right now so I'll stick with protein shakes.
