Fat and wanna start Insanity

I want to start insanity but I'm afraid I won't be able to keep up at all and I will end up just giving up.

What did you do to prepare for insanity? How much did you weigh when you first started?

my husband just started it recently despite not having been in the gym for awhile. if you understand that it's going to be really hard, that you will need more breaks, and that you'll probably need more than the initial 60 days to really see the "results" they promise, i say go for it!

I haven't tried insanity - but I got p90x. Two days ago I put in a dvd and started it. Each workout seems to have a "warm up" time to get your body ready for the work out. Two days ago I managed to do 8 minutes of the warm up. It was mostly run in place - jump side to side - lunges, etc. Well the next day my butt hurt like crazy and I was so sore. This was from 8 minutes! I remember from high school running days if your sore get back at it the next day & it'll help. So yesterday I put back in that cd and made it about 13 minutes of the warm up.

I guess what I'm saying is you can't "prepare" that well - but just start and go as far as you can. Each day you'll improve.
    Good luck
  • I agree. I tried 30ds yesterdaty and only got through 8 min..and stopped. I will try each day and push for longer

You can do it just don't expect to keep up with the people in the video. I am fit and I have to take breaks, jog in place etc. because it's tough.
  • insanity is INSANE, but you get what you put into it...if you feel like youre going to die you can rest...then get back at it. at the end of the workout you feel awesome though (sore, out of breath awesome :p)
at least thats what im telling myself :)

I started it 4 days ago and I have not worked out hardly at all in the past year. I will say that I was VERY out of breath, but I didn't stop. I went at my own pace and took breaks (walking in place) and then jumped back in when I could. You will be sore, but it's definately a good workout!

You can do it! I am currently in week 7 and I am waaaaaay larger than you. Some of the exercises you may have to modify to accomidate your body without hurting yourself. As a matter of fact I didnt even try to do the floor exercises the 1st 2-3 weeks, but I noticed i started to feel stronger and began to slowly experiment with it. I can do about 3 reps of 6 push-ups at a time which is a victory for me considering I couldnt do one in the beginning. I plan to do insanity for the entire year to build my strength (and my body), I am currently 26 lbs less then when I began on January 1st. It just takes commitment and discipline... YOU CAN DEFINITELY DO IT!!! Good luck!
  • I was just thinking should I do the 30DS before I jump into insanity?

My only problem is I've tried 30DS before and I felt like it wasn't a good enough exercise.

Right now, I'm doing C25K, I'm on week5 day 2, so I'm doing that about 3x/ a week then strength training another 3x a week.

I was thinking thinking I could start 30DS in combination with my regular workouts but that would require me doing it in the AM and I'm so not a morning person so I don't know how long that'll last. Then after I finish 30DS, start doing insanity in the morning along with my strength training (Should be done with C25k in a month).

Have any of you guys had this routine?

i was just doing some light cardio at the gym when i started, but i wasn't that overweight.

IDK, the new insanity commerical has a bunch of people on it that had to lose over 100 lbs. i did it with a group that had a very large male in it and he got through it and it did a lot for him

Typically, i'd recommend people start with something a little more user friendly if there in a 'should i or shouldn't i' phase. If they are all excited about it then go for it.

    let put it this way:

-if you try it and you do the whole thing, great!

-if you try it and you deside you don't like it but you switch to a different exercise program, no harm done.

-if you try it and quite and this discourages you so much you stop exercising, thats bad.

I guess i'd just recommend having a back up plan and sticking to it if you deside to try it and its too much.
